| With a current deficit of $5.9 Billion and the possibility of a NZ and/or global recession, it is not a sound proposal at the moment. As unemployment is consequently predicted to rise to 5%, NZ will have the inability to gainfully employ our existing workforce without increasing welfare payments from non existant funds. |

| We dont need more people in NZ. Over population is planet earths biggest problem. causing polution etc. Limiting every woman to one child each would help as in China, and reduce the population by about half over 60 years. |

The only "YES" that I am giving is to sustainable growth.
A nation that grows sustainably is one that recognises environmental, physical, economic, social and political constraints. It does not say no to growth so much as it seeks to identify these limitations and grow within them. |

| The only way to get people to come here is to make our economy more attractive. 10% GST 20% flat tax and ease up on red tape like RMA. |

YES
Choose carefully, the new immigrants must have skills we need, speak english (gotta communicate).
4 more million will bring jobs with them, more houses, more services all to be paid for by the new 4 million. We don't want to import any more welfare beneficiaries (we have enough of our own).
A larger population means a larger economy, therefore the internal NZ ecomony can shield us to a small extent from global fluctuations, if we set it up properly in the first place.
Winston is just desperate to get into power again so he scare mongers using all negative examples of what might happen (which incidentally has never happened here in the past). The possitives of a well managed migration dept. (unlike helens attempt) far outweigh the negatives. |

| More money more people less tax, especially the way our governments don't look after those they should be taking care of. Go for the larger number of people... that way there will be fewer acres to farm and more housing lots to take rates off. Therefore a larger financial benefit. Oh Gosh I forgot whose going to feed us? China. |

Grow NZ to 8 million? And if the world does the same? Using the same logic? 14 Billion? With 14 Billion worth of waste? With 14 Billion worth of resource depletion?
With the greatest respect, this is one of the worst ideas yet floated at this site?
Without grotesque changes in our way of life, even the continued population will be unsustainable.
Try considering only ONE million New Zealanders. There might be energy enough, water enough, room enough - and fertilised water supplies LESS - for your grandchildren. Stop thinking of your immediate greedy bottom line. |

| Definably NOT. Presently our roads are built for horse and cart. We have no infrastructure to handle the present population. Racial conflict is mounting. Did the Gov. ask you to vote on immigration. No, the dictators have their methods. We are already short of water and living in rabbit warrens. |

Our conclusion about the answers of participants on six pages regarding this question is:
1) 140 answers: 68 YES and 72 NO, with some percentage of error on our perception around for up or dawn, of 2,5%.
2) The survey shows a technical draw.
3)The participants did a good job, for they were spontaneous and sincere.
4) Both answers YES and NO shows an interest and worry by NZ country and lifestyle people and for its secure prosperity.
5) Our perception is that both sides want a grow NZ people and the real advantage that it would bring to NZ but there is a different opinion about the quantity of that grow and the method to make it with security for not create problems too difficult to managing it.
6)We personally agree that NZ people has to grow but carefully and on basis in a well thinking planning. We think that must not to have fear to grow and that both government and people have to work together to do a well-done job that gives guarantee of prosperity and keep the good lifestyle that this beautiful and courageous country/people deserve for get it. Our suggestion "Go for it!!"
Congratulations for your answers and your participation
Yours sincerely, |

NZ produced a net out flow heading to Aussie of 47,200 people on a permanent/longterm basis during the year to Sept2008.
It is my understanding that the New Zealand government receives payments from the United Nations (over $250,000?) for each offically sactioned United Nations refugee.
Can anyone comfirm this & if so were do the $'s go to?
Trade people I have spoken to have told me that a process of providing refugees with brand new or refurnished homes is happening in NZ,especially in main centres.
Can any body confirm this & is there any one that considers the continued government sactioned in flow of refugees to be a serious issue, when we have many homeless people, overcrowded houses, people living in sheds & garages, campsites? Our homeless people of NZ are like refugees, they are our own pepole & victims of this political system that appears to favor non New Zealanders over the New Zealanders that have had generations of family members investing in work and taxes to develop the infrustructure to the point it is today.
Why is the infrustructure starting to fail, some say it was the growth of unskilled workers coming into NZ was a big part of it.
I was told that once a refugee was sactioned & accepted into NZ, they could bring up to 30 of their family in,does anyone know if this is true?
We have homeless New Zealanders in NZ living on the poverty line, victims of a political system that does not see them as refugees, but they are homeless,on the move & without hope.
Our fore fathers planted pine forests, not so the country looked pretty, but for future generations to have building materials.
We have large blocks of unused government(NZ'ers)land.
Lets get NZ in order first, houses for our people, grow the building industry, use NZ owned land & build homes for NZ'ers on NZ'ers & Moari land if their leaders agree.
Provide plant&machinery writeoff incentives for productive overseas companies to move here & who bring & maintain a skilled work force.Manage growth. |
