| I am not maori bashing and not a redneck or racist capscore, its so easy to say that when peoples views arent like yours, all im saying that there is a time and place for te reo, and its good that theres a maori tv channel but why does tv 1 still screen maori news and shows when theres a channel dedicated to te reo, and the basketball being shwn on maori tv, and the commentators will speak maori. dont non maori watch basketball? |

Maori should not be taught in public schools just like religion. That should be a extra subject if the student wants to learn it. What and where is maori going to get any body if they live over seas. and whats up with maori schools and day cares do they get taught ENGLISH?, all a load of hogg wash to me<<<<<<<

I know a man I do..Actually my father. White of Irish stock. Has trouble seeing anything Maori as any more than the death throes of a dying race. Beaten fair and square in "war".. I had it out with him once and asked him why the ferk did he marry our mother.. He couldn't answer.

There are some who DO WANT EVERYTHING FOR NOTHING-They are an Embarrassment to those who are in Legitimate Employment,and,living within the bounds of the Law of our Land-Not Happy whatever happens-even when it's a positive move in their favour-ALWAYS got to Complain!Those people can blame their Woes on the Pakeha,but,they've got no-one to blame but themselves.Dont get Me wrong,the Maori Language is Beautiful,and,a few aspects of the Culture are as well,but there are those who for whatever reason make it harder for the rest of us to/survive/be accepted on account of the minority who "Stuff it up".

For a start, this thread is about Te Reo and whether it should be compulsory...OK???!!! Got It???!!!
Secondly, Te Reo and ALL aspects of Tikanga Maori are beautiful to me... Some aspects outdated, granted...But what makes Maori independantly special is what made Maori from the start..But obviously as much as you have done to appreciate Maoridom, you need to go into more depth. I applaud your efforts and would suppor you to the hilt...But when you make LARGELY UNNFORMED comments as above, you bring your efforts down to lip service level!!!
Thirdly, dropkicks and idiots are the wharkwits like Stretchy who know diddly squat.......about much of anything!!!!

Maori is a 'dead' language, with so many 'tribal' variations.
Lets stop the racism in NZ. Get on as ONE people speak ENGLISH! If a second language must be learnt, it should be sign language!
