Re:FUEL "rip off" Reply to this message
for sure, I can do that! Are we boycotting any petrol company, or a particular one? Hitting one of them would hurt more don't you think, and we'll get another one on another day...

Re:FUEL "rip off" Reply to this message
Yeah, but then the next day everyone just buys that same fuel they didn't buy on July 4th. The Oil Co.s laugh at these type of protests.
There are other more effective things we can do.
I had an Ecotube fitted to my Petrol Toyota Prado & I'm saving gas money through the extra kilometers I get out of every tank. I average an extra 145km per tank which is a savings of 36.25 percent. Now if everyone did that we would really annoy the oil barons!
Check these guys out for fuel saving products, they are the real thing. www.ecofuelsystems.co.nz

Re:FUEL "rip off" Reply to this message
we need more than a one day boycott, should be at least a week, however it still wouldnt affect the oil companies billion dollar profits.
as usual the small person is suffering and paying for the rich people to get richer.

Re:FUEL "rip off" Reply to this message
boycott would not work, we need petrol obviously. there should be a collaborative effort between the government and petrol users. the government should cushion the increase in petrol prices. but they can't do it completely, it would be very costly. we should decrease petrol consumption by taking a bus to work, or walk when going somewhere which is not far.

Re:FUEL "rip off" Reply to this message
your right when you say boycotts wont work, maybe if it was a long term one it might have a small effect. I would like to know why is it we actually do have oil in our fields to date we are not useing, i have been told it is slightly inferior grade so not suitable. Me personally i would dispute that it is not useable, so what if its lower grade surely it can be processed to run a vehicle and at the same time wipe out a massive overseas debt from oil purchases. worth thinking about dont you reckon.

Re:FUEL "rip off" Reply to this message
A lot of people i know are now boycotting BP. This is not short term, they are always one of the first to put up prices. If you dont buy through them at all and tell everyone you know it will have an effect. Target one petrol company and contincue until something changes, if you are going to make this work everyone has to do the same thing and for a long period not just a few weeks.

Re:FUEL "rip off" Reply to this message
Intersting thing is that this system was used in WW2 by the Americans in thier tanks so they could out distance the other guys. At the end of ww2 the oil companys brought the patents and removed it from public knowledge.

Re:FUEL "rip off" Reply to this message
If we are serious about this I believe there is only one way to succeed. That is if everybody refused to purchase fuel from B.P. the leadersi in fuel rising. Should we All drive past them sooner or later they would have to kneel and drop prices. If we all then diverted our attention to (lets say Gull) being privately owned and bought our petrol there enormous pressure would be bought to bear on A: BP followed closely by the others. This would have to be a concentrated effort with as many people as possible complying.
I believe it could work.

Re:FUEL "rip off" Reply to this message
People seem to forget the rule of supply and demand. Fuel companies buy and sell with economies of scale. The more they buy the more they sell. If they aren't selling much, they will more likely have to raise prices to cover their costs. If you want to really save money on fuel, try keeping your car tuned, accelerating less aggressively and keeping your distance from the car in front so you don't need to brake so much, if at all. Also keep your tyres pumped up to the recommended pressures and check them weekly. Driving at 80 to 90km/h on the motorway helps (most people are doing it). I am seeing real savings of up to 20% on my weekly usage of fuel. Last week I got 35mpg out of my 2 litre car by sticking to the things mentioned above, previously I was getting around 25mpg. I haven't fitted any dubious "fuel saving" devices to my car.

Re:FUEL "rip off" Reply to this message
Most people are under the assumption that gas is so high due to The war and Middle East
Which when they sell a barrel at $129.00,
where do the other surcharges come from ,
THE US DOLLAR GUYS,

Everything Trade, etc, is all in US Dollars,
The us market has dropped rapidly which makes the rest of the world pick the shortfalls up which hence is the reason fuel is ridicuosly high,

So good idea to boycott a station,
but really, its economics love, the fuel of life

Re:FUEL "rip off" Reply to this message
I have never heard of oil companies posting annula losses - always the opposite! But why don't we take the govt. to task for taxing fuel and not using it for road purposes, and then they add GST so we pay tax on the tax. This is what I say is PCC = Politically criminally Cute because there is no auditor or police that can say STOPPITT!!

Re:FUEL "rip off" Reply to this message
To brmurphy@xtra.co.nz I guess your comment was aimed at mine? You should talk to someone who has had one of these Ecotubes or check the test results online, or even read the independant test restults done by SKM for NZ Gov't. I did before I got one. And I'm now getting 175km extra per tank as it has decarboned the engine. Plus I got emissions tested recently & the results were amazing. My CO2, Nox, Monoxide etc have been cut to almost nothing. I'm just 1 person, but it did it for me & now I believe it shouldn't be doubted anymore. See for yourself tho', you don't have to take my word for it. Go to www.ecofuelsystems.co.nz
They give a money back gaurantee anyway!

Re:FUEL "rip off" Reply to this message
More to brmurphy@xtra.co.nz
I just did a quick calculation & iff I'm correct the improvement on my truck of an extra 175km (575km divided by 400km) = 43.75% improvement in economy just by fitting an Ecotube.
Say what you like, but thats a great savings with todays fuel prices.
I have a 90 ltr tank. At 2.25p/l thats 202.50 to fill up.
A savings of 43.75% on that is $88.59.
If some can afford to laugh at that then good for them. But the rest of us need to make savings like this!!!

Re:FUEL "rip off" Reply to this message
Before the guys at Ecofuel Systems LTD come hunting for me I better say that they state an average savings of 20% in their test results page. I'm only giving my own results.
They do have better results shown than mine tho' - a Commodore got 48% savings.
Hope you don't mind me telling people but if it's doing this for me I think I need to tell other people.
They are at www.ecofuelsystems.co.nz.
Thanks & I will be getting more stuff off them as soon as my fuels savings allows me to save for them :-)

Re:FUEL "rip off" Reply to this message
I don't know anything about your "fuel saving device". I have no doubt that if you say you are using less gas you probably are. It doesn't mean it is because of your "ecotube". Attributing it to your personal experiences however is not a scientific test, it is hearsay. Once I hear of actual scientific proof performed under controlled conditions in a lab I will take it as fact. Until then I cannot say I have proof it or any of the thousands of others on the market work.
