power saving Reply to this message
isn't ironical that we are asked to save power by cutting out electrical items including tv, and yet the power co. are using tv to place their ads. it would be beneficial to close tv down say from midnight to dawn, let everyone get an early night

What the power co's don't tell you is; if you save enough power and reduce their profits they will increase the daily charge to cover it. It's like the 'line' charges; just another tier of profit making on an entity that accounts for very little of a power co's overall costs.

Re:power saving Reply to this message
Yes we did have yet another commission into power. And we did have Pete Hodgson [when Minister] tack a tax on our power bills for excess generation to be 'stored' and used in times of shortages and peak useage. Now they're getting m.uffins with those latte's.

Re:power saving Reply to this message
How about the resposibillety of suppliers to supply!!
How can you ask a customer to cut their use if you have an obligation to supply?
Electricity is a basic commodity that the powercompanies should supply in quantities that are required by their customers. If they would have planned as any other company in the world needs to do to satisfy the supply and demand issues we should never be in this mess. How about accountabilety for those in charge?

Re:power saving Reply to this message
for what i understand about power saving, is that we should use electricity appropriately not to the point that we abuse it just because we know that there are suppliers who are willing to supply and give what we need. i think it is our responsibility also as a consumer to use electricity wisely because i believe that too much usage of electricity can be bad also.

Dont save Power!!!!.....Bring this Goverment to its knees, by insuring that the Supply of electricity is almost exhausted. Then they will have to move quicker on installing either new plants or alternative Power.....why help them!....as they dnt care about you!.......think about it. The only thing missing off Helen Clark and her mob is a straight piece of hair across the top lip and a short fringe.

New Zealand has finally become A third world country. Power cuts, what a joke looks like you might have to go nukes in the future or ask the Maori's to rub some sticks together.

Pwer Crisis Smisis!!!
For the past 10 years we've been told that power cuts are looming and us good kiwi folk must do our bit, our duty!
COME ON! It started with little old ladies sitting in the cold catching their death now sucessive governments have kept themselves in the dark to everyones detriment. NZ is a laughing stock to the modern world. I'm sick to my stomach of these gimmicks run by Power Co's / Government who now want us to make a wee game of it by all sharing our ingenious ideas for power saving....here's one that may not be so popular with Helen Clark and her merry men...how about we insist the world cup rugby be played during the day! Those lights at our stadiums sure must take a bit of powering!!!

Re:power saving Reply to this message
Save power by what turning my kitchen light off,
gees i made such a differnce,

considering if you live in the City, Its a 24 hour Disco,

So come on lets all get realistic, and make major corporates turn there commercial buildings off,

The only corpate company that should have 247 hour lighting should be all Health board Assocations

Turn your lights off
1> Skycity
2>Vero
2> Telecom
4> Price water house and Coopers

"Dont save Power!!!!.....Bring this Goverment to its knees, by insuring that the Supply of electricity is almost exhausted. Then they will have to move quicker on installing either new plants or alternative Power"

Paultacc.
All you guys getting struck into this government must have Very Very Short memorys to forget the total and absolute sambles a certain minster by the name of Max Bradford left us with, We were promised cheaper power, yer I'm still waiting for it. And every time some one wants to build a new power station all the Nimbyt's crawl out of the wood work to object. Who was it that brought in the RMA?? It's not the Govt who builds power station it's private enterprise remember guess who sold off the power in the promise of cheaper power. Remember.
