| This is the third time I have found a Tradesmen in the courier that has done a terrible job in my home! How can we check a Tradesmen's credentials before we hire them?? Is there nothing to stop cowboys advertising in the courier when they're not even qualified or skilled? |

If you want quality tradesmen and a good job look in the yellow pages. Tradesmen who are serious about staying in business are in the yellow pages and pay GST and taxes. Expect to pay a fair price including GST. Tell him exactly what you want and can afford to pay.
Ask for references from previous customers and check them. Do not just shop around for the cheapest quote. Pay the tradesman. Do not engage tradesmen for work you cannot afford. If you can't pay when it is due for a genuine reason let him know straight away. Do not make up false excuses for not paying such as criticising workmanship. You will find all the good tradesmen will avoid you or quote really high if you do not follow the rules. |
