| I recieved a bill for $1200.00 of toll calls apparently made from my phone with a toll bar, whilst no one was home.(we were out of town for two weeks.)Telecom take absolutly no responsability for the error. I now have a bad credit rating and use a vodaphone mobile. CHEERS TELECOM ! |

haironarchers...maybe you were responsible as they would not have made you pay it if you werent...
Some people think they can get through life not playing the rules..eg pay your bills!
If you hadnt made the calls a investigation would have been made, I used to work there and know how it works, they just dont bill you for calls not made! |

| I was in the same predicament.... I was working in oz for 2 months and the roaming charges of people calling and texting me were throught the roof.. when I hit them up they were totally unsypathetic and didn't give a *** .... I've since moved to vodaphone. My phone bills have halved, the service is great, the coverage isn't so good but you soon get over that... I'll never be a customer of telescum again.... |

| I agree with bubble, and when your running a business and people don't pay their bills for whatever reason, its the ones that do pay that hold the business up, so come on pay your bills, we all know when a bill is roughly due, so you hold the $$ till you get the bill. |

| hi i live in china now cecause i dont have to put up with all of this rubbish you have to there they also have telecom china yep same company and guess what it cost $10 nz for a month for a cell phone and as many calls as you want its all the one off cost so yep you are being riped off |

| We were with Telecom and what a mission to get good service eg trying to understand the person on the other end I wish they had people on there that spoke english, they speak that fast and trying to get Internet connected it took over an hour an half to try and tell them that I was not at the same address. So we changed to Telstra Clear and I have to admit its nice to be able to communicate and understand the person on the other end. I rang Telecom to advise them that we didnt want dial up anymore and not to my suprise I got this rude arrogant person he didnt want to know cause we had changed to Telstra clear. Well its no wonder people get fed up with telecoms attitude and go else where. good riddance I say. |

| Lay a formal complaint with the Commmerce Commission and then change companies. Telecom are the number 1 company in NZ with bad service and who breaches consumer laws |

| Dont switch to Vodafone if you want a company that cares about its customers, its hard to get customer service, you pay to call the prepay helpdesk, emails either take a month to be replied to or aren't whatsoever. Vodafone are the pits. |

| So... you want the rest of us who pay our bills to subsidise your phonebill?? Even tho you obviously didn't ring their credit team to make arrangements?? Get a life and take responsibility for yourself - you not paying your bill is NOT Telecoms fault. Go elsewhere and see how you get on with any other phone company if you don't pay your bill. |

Wiring maintainence - ripoff
Have a look at yout Telecom account and you will find - Wiring maintainence at $1.45 per month.
this is case the wiring goes faulty between the first line jack and other extensions in your house. IT NEVER FAILS unless a rat eats the cable ! so Ring Telecom and CANCEL and SAVE SAVE SAVE .... |

| I agree that telecom customer service is poor but come on if you want a phone and internet connection you make sure u pay for it. It is straight forward in that regard if you forsee hardship you let them know and work out a payment plan but you still have to pay for a service that you have received no matter what it is. |

| Love your work Frank, I used to work for telecom and am still with them. it amused me when the people who had been cut off due to their own ignorance called in all angry thinking that that was going to make it all better. (yelling always helps) no wonder call centre staff get angry! account reminders, tele-reminders. what else do people want? Their accounts paid for them? Telecom is a great company, look at what they do for the communities around nz. They are in business to make money like all of us |

Line maintainance fee is to cover anything that goes wrong from the point of entry into the building. It can be VERY, VERY expensive if it does and it's not just rats and mice nibbling cables. Cancel your line maintainance fee and don't bother to cry foul if something goes wrong.
As for Vodafone. It cost me $1 a minute when on roaming in Aussie when someone else called me. I had a family member in hospital so was getting heaps of calls. It cost me hundreds for other people to call me.
Just remember with all the other telecommunications companies, they are all using the same cables and when those cables need replacing, because they are owned by Telecom then Telecom customers are going to be the ones getting the best service. You lot on other plans will have to pay premium for your service then or your providers will go broke. |

| Telecoms performance is reflected in their share price. For years the public has hade to put up with slack service because of its monopoly. Meanwhile the beancounters are cutting more staff. Eventually when their monopoly disappears so will Telecom. Infrastucture will be run down until the company is worthless, then the government will buy it. |

| Best thing to do is to contact the Consumers Institute, they can help you to see if Telecom are in breach of any new zealand legislation. It is usual business to contact you if they are going to act on anything, but also if your not happy try the Commerce Commission to. They may be able to help. If the customer service person was unprofessional in any way, then you should send a written formal complaint to a top level manager of Telecom. Make sure it isn't the person's immediate superior though because a conflict of interest will arise (a complaint reflects badly upon the person managing him/her), however a higher level manager should take it seriously. Just tell them what happened. |
