| You guys are seeing only one side of the coin. In August I had a problem with my landline and called them, they told me that it'll take four days to fix the problem. In return they diverted all in coming calls to my mobile, allowed me to make local calls free from my mobile phone and the icing on the cake was to give me a credit of $92.35 which was my August bill. I doubt how many company in NZ will offer better service than this. |

| If you have problems with your internet connection after 9pm you can only get assistance by going online. (a bit like the old "keyboard error press f1 to continue" You pay for a 24hour service, you just dont get one. |

Be very careful with a voda phone mobile.
Mine was under guarantee, rarely used, always in my hand bag, suddenly I had no data on the screen, still all lit up though with data ie time date etc on outside screen. Seems its had 'water damage' lol unless someone tipped water into my handbag its absolutely an impossibility. Seems they can say what they like. Wonder if anyone else has been shafted in the same way.....?? |

I recently tied dialling Telecomo on an 0800 number, and took me 45 minutes to get to talk to a real Kiwi person...at What cost did ir take to set up a computer that cant reply to simple instructions? Then we get some answer service from a non English speaking country.
The cost of calls in NZ is criminal
Take the cost of calls from American Samoa...not subsidised by the USA government. There are 2 cell servers in American Samoa. The cost to call the other server,or a land line is 8 US CENTS A MINUTE. To call NZ is 25 CENTS A MINUTE at peak times, and 15 CENTS A MINUTE cheap rates.
Are we being ripped off by Telecom NZ???? |

| Telecom are deliberatly running the business down to a point where shareholders refuse to pay for infrastructure. Then their plan is to sell it to the government. It was done with NZrailways sold to toll, asset stripped, run down, sold back to government. |

| The government should never have sold telecom in the first place it would have been far more lucrative for them to bring over someone who had the ability to run it as a business (which is all private sector did once it was purchased) We could have all been enjoying dividens as share holders similar to what mercury energy does with the electricity shares plus we would all be shareholders so our opinions would be considered (maybe) |

Have had numerous problems with Telstra Clear, Telecom and Vodafone.
With Telstra, I had to wait 30 minutes or longer just to speak to someone, and when I did you had to repeat everything three times because they couldn't understand the English language, or they would rudely hang up on you and you'd have to call back and wait another 30 minutes.
When Telecom owed me $400 dollars, I had to wait 2 months before they paid me, but when I owed them $7.00 dollars, they sent a nasty letter informing me that if the debt isn't paid within 7 days, the matter would be referred to a debt collection agency.
With Vodafone, their mobiles phones never worked in most of the rural places I visited. |

After being loyal telecom customers donkeys years we recently shifted to telstra clear. Cable service is excellent and we get television, phone line and internet for almost an equivalent price as telecom phoneline and broadband.
Shifted service as when we shifted house 5 months ago it took Telecom two weeks to fix a fault in our line (We are in central Christchurch by the way not the boon docks). We were supposed to have a technician on the Monday - two Mondays later he turned up and spent five minutes fixing a fault on the outside pole on the street! They gave me 7 different appointment times and each one they changed without contacting me and each time I came home from work because I had to be at the house, Oh and each time I rung to complain they hadnt turned up and I still had no service I had to wait, longest I waited was forty five minutes, quickest I was attended to was ten minutes and each person was downright rude. Oh and I was charged for the over two weeks I had no phone and for the reconnection fees.
Testra came on the day the said they would come. Their technician was very helpful. I have rung them on several occassions andhave only ever waited one or two minutes. The people I talk to are actually in the Christchurch office. Hey I'm sold.
Oh yep and I do have sympathy for the person who hit a temporary glitch and got behind. Used to be a time in NZ when if you had been a loyal paying customer for years you would be cut some slack and when people looked after each other. |

| Given the size and population of NZ how many Telco's do you think this country needs? NZ doesn't have the population to sustain a lot of competition like Oz does. I am all for better service like we all are, but unless our population suddenly doubles i doubt we will see many Telco companies survivng with less than 5% market share? Telecom is a business like any other. They are in business to make money, otherwise what would be the point of running a business not making any profit? I am not surprised people get cutoff for not paying their bills - If you don't pay mortgage or rent you get kicked out so whats te difference? |

| hi i am so with you regarding Telstra. my husband transfered us over from Telecom, telstra had a special on where you get 2 mths free usage promo up to 10gb what a "joke" the discount is 2.95 per month we had to sign up for 12mth conrtact. i was so mad i wanted to pay the 200.00 disconnection fee just to leave Telstra, and now we have notice random Telstra amounts popping up on our credit card bill, and they have a cheek to send us an overdue bill, even though we are set up with a credit card, We are getting Telstra to investigate and request credits. New Zealand needs a 3th telecommunication company. |
