If you haven't been here before, it could be interesting. Good food, wine and great coffee for the most part. The public transport is not the best and the roads are all like UK A roads, we have a few dual carriageways, but mostly single lane with passing lanes every 10 kilometers.
Kiwis are friendly and helpful, just talk about how the Black Caps (cricket) are going through a redevelopment stage and that it is sooooo.... pretty here with all the greenery. Do not complain about lack of nightlife, and unpronouncible placenames and you will be fine.
If you are from the U K it is possible that you will find extended family here, they will probably welcome you with open arms! |

| what you'll like the most is the freedom New Zealand has. Most places live 1hr away from the beach then drive an hour or so in the other direction and you should be on snow topped mountains...take a short detour and you are tramping through wonderful forests and beautiful lakes and scenery that just cant be explained with words. If you are wanting to come to NZ for the night life then i'd suggest you dont. Even heaven has its draw backs lol. |

| nz is a wonderful place but you definitely have to be aware. Make sure you don't leave your valuables in the vehicle when sightseeing. |

You'll love it. :-)
This would be the best time of year to come if you want a summer holiday. The weather is more settled at this time of year, and because we have our Summer Break over Xmas/New Year, the first 2-3 weeks of Jan are pretty dead anyway. If you want a winter holiday, for skiing or whatever, then come in July-Aug.
But whatever you do, please, please, please don't limit your visit to Auckland. Auckland isn't representitive of NZ as a whole, and the South Island is where all the scenery is.
Also if your from a country that drives on the right-hand side of the road, you must always remember that we drive on the left-hand side of the road. There have been several incidences of Tourists beinging involved in Accidents by straying onto the wrong side of the road, so take care with that one. :-) |

My brother & I went all around New Zealand in a Camper van.
We visited both the north & south islands, covering pretty much the whole country ( 6,500 kilometres). It is a very, very beautiful country. Absolutely wonderful. I thoroughly recommend it to everyone. The capital, Wellington, was VERY WINDY. We thought we were literally going to get blown away during the night that we spent in the camper van. But I loved Wellington and its beautiful harbour. We took the ferry to the south island travelling down the East Coast all the way down to Invercargill, and then came up the West Coast to Greymouth and across to Christchurch via Arthurs Pass which is truly SPECTACULAR if you drive through, rather than go by train.
FOX GLACIER I shall never forget. I did the same Stupid thing as two indian chaps who recently got crushed by tons of ice, and went over the safety line, walking towards the very same spot where the two brothers died. Fortunately for
me there was an ICE FALL while I was still some 80 metres away, or I would have been killed also by the slabs of ice that came crashing down. I literally dropped my camera and ran for my life.
I went back later to ritrieve the camera and cardigan.
We found ALL the people in New Zealand very friendly and helpful.
I want to go back there as soon as practicable.
I have NO DOUBT that in years to come New Zealand will be a Favourite Tourist Destination for millions of people all around the world. It's a Great Pity that it is so far way from Europe and North America. I'm sure that americans would just love it.
A Most Blessed Country !! |

| New Zealand is clean and the people are nice. Some of the sceneries are great but their towns and cities are all clons of eachother and thoroughly unspectacular.....even to the point of boring really. |

| We are friendly and helpful, but don't be too trusting. There is crime here. Some tourists don't realise this. |
