The latest exhibition of greed from the directors of contact energy are a typical example of why public ownership of public utilities is essential to this country.
Look at the several example of failure in the past years.

Telecom, Poor service (well actually you could not complain about service as there was none,) while the money which should have been spent on service and upgrading internet was spent on massive share dividends and and fighting off the opposition.

Railways After assets stripping the buyers took off leaving behind a rundown system.

Energy Companies. After this latest fiasco by the directors and the continual increase in power charges. With Banks we can only ask why we are at the mercy of the Australians.

At least the Govt has made a start with the purchase of The Railways and Kiwi Bank.
We need to gain control of our own again. If you don't own something you are always at the mercy of others.
