At long last Bill the English has annouced a review of the tax about investment homes, Saying he would like the investment to go more productive investment, Wow You don't have to be a rocket sciencist to work that out, I wrote to Cullen a few years ago pointing out the Commercial sector was begging for investment to no avail. In the meantime house prices have sky rocketed putting the homes for first time buyers young couples out of the reach of them.
Lets hope he can follow though on this. And not get sidelines by all those real estate and those already in investment thats if there is anyone in NZ beside myself who doesn't have a investment home,
Oh yes I could have bought 3-4 if I had wanted to but I wouldn't have been able to sleep thinking I was helping to inflate the homes for young people. |

I never lost any sleep doing it
Incidentally, are you aware of how many "investment" homes English has
Of course he will back away from taxing this situation
he would lose most of his support base overnight |

| yes v123 - totally agree - this has needed to be done for some time - ofcourse he hasn't done it yet but I would be keen to see this area reworked. Certainly not talking about the family home and perhaps we should allow one other property as well - you know like the bach but anything after that should not be allowed to be treated as a business. It adds nothing to our economy and at the moment meets the new immigrant "invest in a business" clause. |

| My only gripe is the large pay rises and salaries given to some of those public servants and top executives. Talk about, excessive. |

If any of them had any thought at all for first home buyers they would re-instate the State Advances system for them. Or Housing Corp.
Of course that doesn't even come into their equation; too busy counting their own beans. |
