I agree with that alamein, without beneficiaries etc.. no jobs for winz staff, some do have a holier than thou attitude when dealing with clientele, not all, but it does happen.

john....
You are allwed to earn just under $5000 per year before your benefit is affected. You are are also able to claim other special hardship benefits without affecting invalids.
So you see when the politicians say the benefit is this much, say, they are ignoring the facts that people spin a BS story to get more on the other benefits. This means you can get a lot more than $320 per week, the clever and dishonest ones do.

Yes Mar....agreed.....when entering WINZ you need to be familiar with policy. Most WINZ staff have not read their own policy. First and foremost they cannot take actions that leave you in a position of poverty and they have a commitment to move you out of poverty so you need to remind them of that calmly and assertively which is not always a simple task. MP's can be of good use assisting beneficiaries in getting their needs met if those needs are reasonable.

bronk "didn't get one, I had to use my mortgage. I'm not unique or special for doing this, just normal. Personal responsibility here, get your own act together and stop expecting everyone to do it for you. Oh and BTW I would probably qualify (and my wife would qualify) for an invalids benefit. But would be too ashamed to take it."

ok so tell me who do you turn too for capital for a small business if a bank turns you down. Primarily on that fact because, although you own a home, situation is such that your income won't allow them to lend ?
Personal responsibility where?
You are too proud to go for assistance because your ashamed ? be careful one never knows what winds blow what opportunities.
Both you and your wife would qualify for one... can't see that as by your own admission your both working.

"You are too proud to go for assistance because your ashamed ?"

More like too proud to go and beg for money in front of a whole room full of nosey tw@ts and whatever other losers happen to be there. Have them make you explain every withdrawal on yer bank account in front of everyone.
Might as well be sitting on the footpath with a can in your hand begging for money :)

Compared with Ruthenasia under the National Party of 1991, I would take this mob any day of the week.

Love the way people like inbound expect people that are too useless or stupid to find work, to know the full winz policies. Be lucky if half of them can even spell or read properly, or have more than the attention span of a gnat.

Some years ago I lost my Mortgage because the insurance didnt cover for a mental Breakdown, Medical Insurance doesnt cover for specialists Or medication I had to sell my house, so how the hell can you say just look after your own affairs, I now work 26hrs/wk & do pay my own way, hope you are never placed in this position. Things dont always go just as you planned.

Re:Invalids Benefits Reply to this message
The people that think they are above a support network like invalids are more often then not struck down unexpectly and find themselves in need. They soon shut up with their opinions. I am happy to think my taxes go to support people with long term health issues. Better then lining the politicians pockets.
