Sorry we could not do that mate.
Rumour is that if she losses the election she has been offered a job as Mugabes chief advisor!
I believe she has been advising him on Agriculture already :-)

i give you a link that rates nz as the least corrupt country in the world. but because it dosent fit in with your arguement, you dismiss it without even having a look at anything like the methods they use or the different areas of corruption they measure. yer sheep

You lot that are raving about starting and running a business in this country and hard it is, how come the world bank and others rate nz as one of the easiest places in the world to start and run a business?

Unbiased, hard data continue to be
difficult to obtain and usually raise problematic
questions with respect to validity.
Direct quote Jamie in the second paragraph.

Re:Vote for Helen Clark! Reply to this message
Why is the CPI based only on perceptions?

It is difficult to assess the overall levels of corruption in different countries based on hard empirical data, e.g. by comparing the amount of bribes or the number of prosecutions or court cases. In the latter case, for example, such comparative data does not reflect actual levels of corruption; rather it highlights the quality of prosecutors, courts and/or the media in exposing corruption across countries. One strong method of compiling cross-country data is therefore to draw on the experience and perceptions of those who are most directly confronted with the realities of corruption in a country.

So larry.burke do you run a business - just curious.
And JJ if all employers are so bad why don't you become self employed, then you wouldn't have to put up with being ripped off by them

Re:Vote for Helen Clark! Reply to this message
So the best way you have to refute the DOCUMENTED occurrences I brought up about Peter Doone's removal by Hulun is a report about "perceptions", okkkay.

What are your takes on Doonegate, Parkergate, Corngate, Paintinggate, Speedgate, to name just a few, you know, as an "impartial observer".

I do PLENTY of thinking for myself, TVM.

OOH and as far as corruption goes.. keep this place in mind. LAS VEGAS.

We should be hearing a lot more about it soon.

Re:Vote for Helen Clark! Reply to this message
Beaurocrats will rub your face in statistics because you can always hide from the real truth. When Labour start having to face certain truths, they will create more beurocrats, red tape, probably create an organisation that does nothing but talk about the problem, until we are going round & round & round like we do with this lame Govt.
Take crime for example. Some Labour stiff said that crime has decreased over the last decade when we all know this is not true.
The incoming National Govt will give these old men the boot and take action, effectively cutting the problem off at the knees.
Less beurorats = Less problems

Re:Vote for Helen Clark! Reply to this message
I like Hilary Clinton's recent joke: In a Nuclear fallout, only two things would survive. 1) *** roaches 2) Helen Clark.

In the USA, she is known as Red Helen.

Yes, she runs a Govt that has no interest in public opinion, even if it is %88 against the Govt view. Any Govt that turns it's back on %88 of it's people it represents, must be communist. Glad to see the end of her!!!

Anyone who votes Helen - Votes against Democracy. You got to be pretty thick to vote against democracy.
LOL - NZ'ers are so stupid. Under Labour it's the dumbing of the nation! Brain drain, Political Correctness, Worsening education system, declining health system, Major declining in the OECD rating. Rising Immigration, Huge Taxes, Higher than ever crime rates. Thanks Labour!
Our educated people leave the country to be replaced by immigrants that come to live their lives on our benefits. Why do people like labour???

Re:Vote for Helen Clark! Reply to this message
JJ, If you don't have sufficient knowledge of those events I referred to, that's fine.

But don't try to gloss over or dismiss them from a position of ignorance.

Peter Doone did no such thing.

Helen Clark leaked false information to the media that resulted in a public perception of the Police Commissioner that was simply not true. Then that public perception was used to justify his position being untenable.
