National Party Policy – Divide and Conquer

Sports Policy

Getting children from “difficult homes” playing sport will give them something constructive to do thereby filling a void and decrease the temptation to hang around the streets and get involved in drugs. Is Mr Key suggesting that only children from “difficult homes” have these problems, I would have thought that the temptation to hang around the streets and get involved in drugs affected all family groups? Would Mr Key please define “difficult homes?”

The obvious health benefits from participating in sport are a fitter and healthier population.
Is Mr Key going to provide his obese colleagues with skipping ropes and encourage them to get out and exercise at the end of the parliamentary kindy session?

More funding to sports organisations, excellent policy, Remuera and Fendalton will require new gymnasiums as they will be the only families who will be able to afford the new running shoes and football boots.

How does extra funding to sports organisations benefit ALL kiwis.

Benefit Policy

“People receiving a sickness or invalids benefit, if they have been assessed as able to work. These beneficiaries will be required to spend at least 15 hours per week in employment, training, or job-seeking activities.” Is Mr Key suggesting that the medical professionals who have provided medical certificates for people currently on these benefits are somehow misleading WINZ? If a doctor or specialist has issued a medical certificate saying these people are not able to work is WINZ going to have the authority to disregard these medical certificates and endanger the health and safety of their clients?

On one hand Mr Key wants to let the Doctors at the coal face have more say in running our health system, but on the other he is inferring that they are providing Medical Certificates for Invalid and Sickness beneficiaries that are misleading.

Tax Cuts

Tax cuts of around $50.00 per week, sounds good, but who is going to be getting these tax cuts? ALL New Zealanders? Does this mean that the “tax” currently deducted from benefits will be reduced by $50.00 per week. If so then this is also an excellent policy, the children from “difficult homes” might just get a new pair of sneakers so they can go use the new sports equipment at the new sports clubs in Remuera and Fendalton, their parents might even have a few dollars spare to put the fuel in their vehicles to get them there, however if they don’t, the kids from the “difficult homes” will have new shoes so they can walk there. Then again, they could be considered “hanging around the streets and getting

Re:Vote for Helen Clark! Reply to this message
I like Helen because of her policy of high taxes. She has a great minister of finance in Michael Cullen who has a great understanding of how an economy works. He has a PhD in Social History you know. Pity it was about 19th century Social History though, but it was about the late Industrial Revolution which is surely applicable to NZ.

I hope in their next term they will repeal the Reserve Bank Act, which will allow them to spend more of our tax money on roads in Auckland and things that we really need without that pesky Reserve Bank putting up interest rates in response.
And just think how much unemployment has decreased since the government service has been increased. If they raise taxes some more, they can expand the public service some more.Im sure they will think of great things for them to do. Why even Kiwisaver was responsible for employing thousands more IRD staff!
I think once they repeal the Reserve Bank act we should aim at an inflation rate of at least 10%, the 4% at the moment is far too low. Just think how that will help pay off our mortgages. And if they fix the exchange rate again like good old Muldoon did, (well he inherited that one but thought it was a good idea) we can afford to hire proper doctors for our hospitals as well as police and important people like that again. Of course during the Muldoon era and before, no-one could buy a new car unless they had overseas funds, but I'm sure Helen and Michael will find a way around that one:)And under ETS all people on low incomes and benefits will get subsidies so they wont be disadvantaged. I think I will get a low paying job as well so I wont be disadvantaged either. Just think all of NZ will be so equal again with every one on low pay:)But the real reason to vote for Helen is because of her authoritive strength. I remember when she found as law that was going to hurt her government she changed the law. Now thats strength and authority!Well she can't help us all if she is not the government can she ...

Re:Vote for Helen Clark! Reply to this message
Interesting reading Nathan Mc Clusky's report on a survey he did for his PhD, about politician's & promises, he found that most politicians do keep their word, Labour have kept nearly 90% of their election promises. Each term has got better, they are now getting the country in a better position. Okay you can't please all the people all of the time, but you cannot keep blaming the government for everything, & just because some of you don't like the way Helen looks, does not stop her from being a good PM. If she spent most of her time in a beauty parlour, it would give you something else to moan about.
We ought to be glad that we are in NZ, & not in any other of the countries suffering either from horrific weather problems or from bank & lending institutes collapsing in America & they have the weather problems as well.
You may not like Cullen, but his Frugalness is helping to keep this country more stable. The grass is not greener outside NZ, I have been to many countries, but then again I have been there done that, & it is natural people have to try it for themselves. If they love NZ they will come back, & as for Kiwis fleeing to Australia, Lockwood Smiths 80,000 lost Kiwis when worked out proportionally, but still including Kiwis on 2years OE, worked out about 38,500. Quite interesting when you can get unbiased figures coming out instead of things blown out of proportion & printed in the media.

Re:Vote for Helen Clark! Reply to this message
pj read the report and at no point did he state that Labour had kept nearly 90% of their election promises, he said some administrations kept nearly 90% with the best being Muldoons '81-84 government with 88%.

Re:Vote for Helen Clark! Reply to this message
He also stated that the worst was National's 96-99 government with only 50% kept due to being hamstrung by NZ First. And both major parties have been able to keep less of their election promises since the introduction of mmp. Dropping from an average of 80% to 62%. So basically mmp is a way for polititions to promise the earth knowing they won't have to deliver.

Re:Vote for Helen Clark! Reply to this message
It was interesting to read in the Press this morning where Helen is quoted as saying Labour is now in competition with all other parties on the block and "we are rowing our own waka" I have wasted so many decades mistakenly believing wakas were paddled, but now Helen's superior familiarity with all aspects of maori culture has corrected my thinking. I wonder if she has bothered to inform the kaumatua that paddling a waka is no longer politically correct. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Re:Vote for Helen Clark! Reply to this message
Helen has to go. Mainly because she has Cullen. If she dropped that cold fish and developed some of her caucus more, maybe I'd give her another go.
Instead she's become part of a duo with Cullen, and she should have dumped Winston. So she's in bed with a cold fish and a man who is.. how do we say this... economic with the Truth.

Re:Vote for Helen Clark! Reply to this message
Has this blog been opened in a looney bin. This has has to be the most hysterically funny thread that I have read for some time. Lets make some real awards. Gold - Helen Clark for lying to NZ. Gold Helen Clark for protecting for political purposes a compulsive liar in Winston Peters. Gold for dropping NZ's standards in many areas including devious political engineering and political correct sock and sandle wearers. I could go on but its boring talking about this loser. If the UN accepts her god help developing countris and their cultures.

Gosh merve,
You forgot what wonderful work she has done for gays and lesbians. I mean they can get married now and have children.
And don't forget the liberal sex education in schools, no longer any emphasis on this yuck hetero stuff. Every type is treated impartially and children are encouraged to experiment. I got one of the government publications on this subject and its wonderfully new age:)
And what about the 1000 new police? I read that they have got about 300 of them already, I cant remember if they started 3 or 6 years ago though. And don't forget we got thru this winter without a power cut. Although to be fair, I did see the Huntly power station doing a lot of steaming when I went past there in July:)

Re:Vote for Helen Clark! Reply to this message
How do you know John Keys couldn't have handled it as well as Helen. Did any one ask him.
Time for a change so people can actually have a choice in their lives instead of being told how to bring their children up. You say Helen didn't cause the violence in Auckland, but what has she done to improve the law, sentencing, etc to make sure people are punished for wrong doings. at the moment most think they can get away with a smack on the hand.

And why on these opinion polls do people keep bring up the past. Its time to move to the future and stop living in the dark ages.
