I agree that Family First deserve some help getting this referenda done. It is a first step in getting a Constitution written by New Zealanders for New Zealand and New Zealanders.

Re:NZFirst supporters corner ... Go Wins ...
Sorry for the cut and paste folks but I thought the ideas expressed here were interesting. I find it fascinating that many in society itch and moan about teen pregnancy but don't come up with constructive solutions. Family Planning goes a long way in more urban areas but our closest one is in Takapuna - 45min away and you need the transport. I think the second paragraph provides a really strong reason for a basis of discussion. Perhaps just free from every chemist in New Zealand. So I ask the question Why Not?

As if to underline this, journalists couldn't resist ferreting out a remit from the Rainbow sector group calling for free condoms to stop unplanned pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases. This was a very mild example of the sort of issues that have always featured in Labour conference remit books.

Luckily for Mr Goff, the conference was over before party activists had a chance to catch up with research from the London School of Economics arguing contraception was almost five times cheaper as a means of preventing climate change, than conventional green technologies. The principle being it's much cheaper to hand out condoms to prevent the emitter being born, than it is to cleanse the atmosphere of the carbon he or she will emit, once born, for the next 80-odd years.

Sorry I should have put something to indicate when the quote started. From the paragraph starting "Also - this is taken from an article about the Labour Party Conference".

Re:NZFirst supporters corner ... Go Wins ...
"Essentially all eligible applicants for Year 9, 10 or 11 (form three, four and five) will go into two draws to be held in October and the winners will get up to $15,000 a year for fees and $1500 for course costs at a school of his or her parents' choice for every year of their secondary schooling.

There is an income and asset test: the kid has to come from a home with an annual income of $65,000 or less and a net worth of $150,000 or less (renting or having a big mortgage would help). And they cannot be the beneficiary of a trust."

For goodness sake. This is the brainstorm of the ACT party - scholarships to send kids to private school on our money. Why not just invest the damn money into the state system in the first instance so everyone gets the same chance. And while your at it give back our 35 million and drop that back into the state system so that the 95% of New Zealand children that attend state school can get the benefit of it.

Just another example of attempting to build a concept of elite education and those that experience it being better people than those who don't - education snobs!

Re:NZFirst supporters corner ... Go Wins ...
Mardale Two things
1) No one from NZF has explained why the number of Public Servants blew out of control under Labours last nine years in office. When your lot was supporting the Labour Government. I remember quite clearly Winston and others defending these increases of numbers in the house. Now that National has to prune back this huge spending increase. NZF and Labour are the first to moan when they let it get out of control in the first place.

2) The public or State school in system has had huge amounts of money thrown at it ,and it still under performs. Much of it stems from the left leaning PTA that wont let teachers be sacked if they under perform. To a feminist controlled Ministry of Education that has rewritten the curriculum to suit females and disadvantage boys Education.I like that way you have a dig at private schools Trevor Mallard use to do this with catholic schools claiming they shouldn't be paid any state money or be integrated. This suddenly went quiet when Helen Clark asked the question how come De Lasalle College a decile 1 school can out perform all other Decile 1 schools around it by a huge amount. 85% of De lasalle students were passing NCEA 1 over 80% NCEA Level 2.This showed that for parents in that area paying $500 a term was a worth while investment in your Child's future. The State School system has a huge problem in New Zealand a fish rots from the head first. I am certainly happy that I paid a little more and sent my kids to a school that taught them life values as well as education and celebrated successes. It has the results to prove it. Much more than your favored state schools

Re:NZFirst supporters corner ... Go Wins ...
bob - you have just shown yourself to be either a complete idiot or a bloody lier and I don't usually use that language.

Firstly New Zealand First has a policy of cutting back the members of Parliament to 99 MP's. Has been out policy since at least 2005. Secondly from the 1990's Winston Peters has run his Ministerial offices on less staff than many other MP's. And apparently you choose to ignore that if the Labour government didn't like out stand on something e.g. the anti smacking bill - they just got on side with the Greens and the Maori Party and in that particular instance the Naional Party.

As to our State Schools under performing - what a knob. According to PISA testing (Programme for International Student Assessment) which tests random 15 year old in 57 OECD countries. In the area of Scientific Literacy only two countries performed better than New Zealand, in the area of Reading Literacy only three countries performed better than New Zealand and in maths Literacy only five countries performed better than New Zealand and in none of those catergories was one of the countries out performing us Australia, America or the United Kingdom.

So I hate to be the bearer of the truth but if you don't know what your talking about for goodness sake say nothing.

Your last name wouldn't be Clarkson would it - it's just that your grasp on facts stikes me as similar to someone else.

I apologise for my typing but nothing makes me madder than people who know nothing having a go at the teaching staff in this country who not only work their behinds off for other peoples children - have to act like social workers for the nation alot of the time and then have *** s like that say that they aren't doing their job well.

Re:NZFirst supporters corner ... Go Wins ...
Mardale
Very weak reply you agree to reduce members of parliament by 30 people after letting the public service blow out by another 20000 WOW BIG DEAL!!
Interms of baking a few scone and running a few sausage sizzles for your local school as wel las being on the board this does not make you an Expert on Education. Mardale can you please tell me the three types of learning styles? Can you tell me how the curriculum as altered ovewr the past twenty years to swing heavily to suit a particular learning styles? Which coincendently favours girls? Where do you think this was driven from. I certainly hope you arent the Education Spokesperson for NZF !!

Re:NZFirst supporters corner ... Go Wins ...
Bob - Don't ask me to spend my time finding out your answers if you don't have the decency to educate yourself before you shoot your mouth off. I see that you have choosen not to address the facts directed at your previous blog - why's that!

And I'm not here to justify myself to you mate! If you want to know the different learning styles then go look them up. If you want to know about the currirulum then go and read the documentation just the same way I do - you ofcourse are aware that a completely new curriculum will be introduced in 2010 - you do know that don't you? Are you in the industry? Are you aware of the current programmes being implemented in most New Zealand Schools to address boys learning?

And what the hell do you mean by "where do you think this was driven from" - no idea. If you want to say something then say it. I have attended a Principals meeting, A meeting with ERO, a Property meeting for a 1.8 million hall being built at our school, a finance meeting at the primary school, a discipline hearing and I have to go to our Cultural Blues awards at 7pm - so matey you might be baking scones but I don't have the time. And you can do your own research - I'm too busy actually doing something that makes a difference.

Re:NZFirst supporters corner ... Go Wins ...
kiwi
I do know she isn't a teacher runs the school tuck shop or second hand clothing stall at the college. She isn't to bright on education. When she starts talking about test scores that are better than other countries. These test scores she quotes includes private schools. How do you think the scores would look if we took the private school results out of the mix. Its a shame you don't see Mardale the important role they play in the education system. Please tell me you aren't going to be the NZF spokesman on education because you will get owned.
