Labour puts forward amendments to allow Maori seats. Enough of the aparthied already. Are we not all equal? Or are some trying to be more equal than others?

You are right mudge the "great maori warriors" are starting to beg and grovel for seats. Tainui and ngati whatua are chucking a "rodney" by saying that they don't want to be involved at all now that they can't get freebie front row seats on the Auckland CC.
And ala the reason those parties haven't got any "brown faces" in them is because no "brown faces" were good enough to get selected and they couldn't get the support from the lazy "brown faces" that they depend on to be selected. |

"Throw a Rodney". Rodney Hide did not throw his toys out of the cot or spit the dummy or throw a wobbly, he just said he was standing on his principles on this one. Granted saying maori parliament seats are okay but not council seats is a bit two face but a line has to be drawn in the sand somewhere and he chose where he was drawing the line. He realised giving maori special seats in Auckland supercity was going to create real problems for all councils further down the track.
The Toe on the other hand had a real disgusting childish spat just because he didn't get what he wanted as all three years old and those with the mentality of a three year old do. |

I saw a maori Wellington coucillor on Backbenchers last night. What he said is worth repeating as he got his position by being elected to it.
In his opinion, the decision has been made by govt maori have to accept it and get on NOW with getting elected in the next elections. He said there was no point throwing your hat into the ring 6 weeks before the election you have to start building up a voter base NOW or no matter who you are you stand no chance of getting elected.
In other words stop carrying on like babies crying over spilt milk and get on with it.
He gets elected by a broad range of people in ethnicity and income brackets because in his words he serves his constituents to the best of his ability. Really begs the question why do maori need special seats in Auckland super city? Clearly a change of collective attitude of the race is needed. |
