Music is transitory. It will always be moving on before we have a chance to capture it for good, no looking back.... except through the CD collection of course which gives us privellage to stop time.

| Gonna sound sad but after my daughter bought the new Jonas Brothers CD, i think its rather good. This is coming from a bloke thats into rap, RnB etc. Most of the new music nowadays is rubbish and just rehashed songs from the 70s and 80s |

All names in that list are American bands except Baskery, who are Scandinavian I think. "Baskery" have just released their first album, might be able to find them on the net.
There is a good "Giant Sand" website that includes "Calexico".
and others. But mainly into downloads by the look, so depends what you're into. |

"Detroit Cobras" have a new album out too. They are a basic Garage band with a good chick singer, sort of punk.
"Comets on Fire" is a North-west Coast American garage/psychedelic/punk/g runge band whose first album was released around 2000. It is the noisiest racket ever put to record, and virtually everybody hates it. Their later albums were were more adventurous, but harder to get into...
They spawned an offshoot band called "Howlin' Rain" who are easier to get into.
"Black Mountain" are similar to Comets I guess, maybe better, but I don't know their music very well as yet...though they did one track that was pretty out there.. |

South - you may not be into some of this stuff, I am probably a little older than you though that doesn't mean anything.
"Calexico" are pretty famous, their music is like a blend of California and Mexico. They play pretty much any and every sort of musical instrument, based on country and spanish styles it sure ain't Ricky Martin! A wonderful vocalist called Joey Burns sits in amongst a wall of every sort of music imaginable, no egos to blurt in your face, and mostly acoustic. "Calexico" may be threatening to your musical tastes! |

EVERYBODY should listen to Johnny Dowd.........
"Iron and Wine" are becoming more well known, they did a good E.P. with Calexico in '05. But they have a fair few albums out , and I would like to hear more of them myself.....
Also there are a lot of releases by N.Z. artists recently. So hard to keep up with, anybody have any recommendations ? |

I have always been a KISS fan and will be to the day I die.
I dont care what you say you cant say anything I have heard it all before.
KISS rocks for me and isnt everyone entitled to their choice of sounds ?
I like alot W.A.S.P. Motley Crue Iron Maiden (good concert it was to) Black Sabbath blah blah blah, the list goes on, but KISS do it for me. More the original line up than the one they have now

lmao dirty southern. You wont believe this, but I used to flat with a guy years ago and he didnt like my music and he said to me " you noisey bloody headbanger " LOL and the name just stuck :) It eventualy got shortened to HB which I still sometimes get called to this day :)
My name is down as Headbanger at the pub I drink at for the handle draw.
From the age of 13 I have always liked heavy metal and after all these years (44 this year I think) my loyality to metal has never faultered.
Oh and I forgot to mention Motorhead. They are cool :) |
