LOL south. My two boys love watching KISS on DVD.
They think Gene Simmons is the sh1t with him poking his tongue out and all. They think its cool when he does that. I got to teach them that hes not been cheeky. LOL Oh and its just the 5 kids LOL and have had a chat with the doctor :)
Bubs is ok but in hospital for the night under observation. She stops breathing when shes feeding and struggles to get going again. So fingers crossed its not a major. |

| I recently went to a country music concert in Seattle. Performing were Garth brooks, alan Jackson, Keith urban, Rascal Flats and some other big American names. The thing that surprised me was that 75% of the audience of 50,000 were 30 or younger. Even the Tamworth festival in Australia or the Norfolk Island Country music festival attract the younger people. Why does country not work in NZ |

| You know there is just no excuse for liking KISS - that is why you imediately try to make one. Kiss are not head banging heavy metal, they are pretend heavy metal, a show in make-up to shove good-time attitude to the establishment. They are an up-tempo bunch of manic kids and we need more of that sort of stuff, can't get enough of it. But I still reckon people who like KISS do it just to p88ss people off! |

blu - according to recent surveys young people in the States listen to country and rap. very few ever turn on the radio or MTV. Note; country AND rap, not or.
Most radio stations there are now owned by one corporation that sells air-time in 1-minute slots. Songs over 3 1/2 minutes can't afford the air time, and the music is all made for the air-waves. i.e. computer smoothed and made to fit between advertising space.
Country music concerts have more than a little more appeal than the soaped up radios I guess. Rap also I guess.
Country artists need to stay raw to be credible though, in New Zealand anyway. Look at the Topp Twins - they are super!! |

Knew you'd love the bit about the Topp Twins...
What about Molly Hatchet?
...and I know I can't say anything about Kiss fans, I like Uriah Heep so I can't say anything much can I?
All me best mates got into Kiss and so I was a bit tsunamied by them as a kid. Then the Rocky Horror Picture Show came out and everyone started singing "I'm a sweet transvestite" while walking around the streets... talk about embarrassing mates I have.. |

Hey, it was the 70's: clothing was bad enough as it was without that.
I won't mention what they did wear; don't want to identify anyone....
As for us; I think we invented the Pearl Jam grunge look...
mainly 'cos we were always broke and working our buts off. |

I am enjoying following this thread..... Since moving to Oz I certainly have been "exposed" to a lot more country music, but as a long time lover of the best country rock band in the history of the universe, I don't mind! In fact I think a lot of the country played here is more country rock although there is some old style stuff too - Kasey Chambers and Shane Nicolson's Rattling Bones for example....
And Andy, did I ever tell you I once got close enough to Gene to nearly get my eyebrows singed???? :-) |

| there was nothing wrong with the clothing in the seventies... black tee shirts, shredded jeans held together with safety pins and contact adhesive and fine sturdy pair of Doc's..... and when witer came around you just chucked on one of your grandads old suite jackets, they older the better......."hippies are just boring old farts that should be set alight".... |

Hey Andrew, I don't mind KISS, how can ya knock a band that's become cooler with time? I guess I'm not so much of a glam fan, but I love Mott The Hoople, The Move, some Bowie, and others. I thought God created Rock and Roll first?
...and al; I was set alight years ago, still burning!!! |

nothing like a wee bit of glam rock....
So if you like the 'Move' do you also then like 'ELO' Roy Woods next band...?
For those of you that havent seen Kiss live, you are sadly missing a wonderful experience.... even the part where Gene Symonds accidently swallows the lighter fluid he was breathing fire with and goes off stage for about twenty minutes....lol |

LOL rockandrollpress, I was just razzing ya man. KISS influenced so many as did many influence KISS. Cant knock their lead guitarist that never ever took a lesson and became one of the best around. Dime Bag Darrell (Pantera) saw a KISS concert, his first concert ever I think, saw Ace on lead(KISS) and said, "wow thats what I wanna do" and phark me went and did it. Was still doin it when he was shot to death while live on stage.
Al, never heard that story bout Gene, but I do know he set his hair on fire one night and one of the roadies ran on stage with a wet towl to put his hair out lol. |

andrew....
It happened at their concert in Wellington a few years ago... he was only off stage briefly, needed to gargle and wipe up all the lighter fluid then he and his big giant boots took to the stage again.... |
