John Denver must be my biggest influence, especially after seeing the Whisper the Wind: the life and music of John Denver show in Christchurch last year.
The other big ones for me are Pink Floyd - especially Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall; and Pink Floyds former bass guitarist Roger Waters (Amused to Death is a brilliant song!). |

New Music?
Some of what you are listing to is pretty old guys... nothing wrong with that of course. . . .
But hows that song "hero of War" by the band "Rise Against", pretty awesome really.
My kick at the mo' is a band from states called "Ha Ha Tonka". Just put out their second album. Different, a little challenging, but undeniably brilliant.
and I like "Ladyhawke", but that is predictable I guess...
then there is this album called "Royal Academy of Reality" by a band called "The Swimming Pool Q's", blows me away evry time I play it.
Check out "Baskery" on you tube, and "Trailer Bride", girl plays a plugged in banjo as if it were Jimmy on guitar. |
