Whats you favourtie old school song? Reply to this message
Well, that's actually it. I'd like to hear what yall were listening to while you grew up- BEFORE you got addicted to what you listen to and jam out to now.

Personally, I have many.
The Temptations, Bread, UB40, Kiss, Pink Floyd, Dr hook, Sinatra and the rest of the rat pack.

Let's hear your old mo town (or other) favourites

It's late in the evening
She's wondering what clothes to wear
She puts on her make up
And brushes her long blond hair
And then she asks me
Do I look alright
And I say yes, you look wonderful tonight

We go to a party
And everyone turns to see
This beautiful lady
That's walking around with me
And then she asks me
Do you feel alright
And I say yes, I feel wonderful tonight

I feel wonderful
Because I see the love light in your eyes
And the wonder of it all
Is that you just don't realize
How much I love you

It's time to go home now
And I've got an aching head
So I give her the car keys
She helps me to bed
And then I tell her
As I turn out the light
I say my darling, you were wonderful tonight
Oh my darling, you were wonderful tonight

I dont know what it is that makes me love you so
I only know I never want to let you go
cause youve started something
Oh, cant you see?
That ever since we met
Youve had a hold on me
It happens to be true
I only want to be with you

It doesnt matter where you go or what you do
I want to spend each moment of the day with you
Oh, look what has happened with just one kiss
I never knew that I could be in love like this
Its crazy but its true
I only want to be with you

You stopped and smiled at me
And asked if Id care to dance
I fell into your open arms
And I didnt stand a chance
Now listen honey
I just want to be beside you everywhere
As long as were together, honey, I dont care
cause youve started something
Oh, cant you see?
That ever since we met
Youve had a hold on me
No matter what you do
I only want to be with you

Oh, oh, you stopped and you smiled at me
And asked if Id care to dance
I fell into your open arms
And I didnt stand a chance
Now hear me tell you
I just want to be beside you everywhere
As long as were together, honey, I dont care
cause youve started something
Oh, cant you see?
That ever since we met
Youve had a hold on me
No matter what you do
I only want to be with you
I said no matter, no matter what you do
I only want to be with you

Ok...

Primary School (in as close to chronological order as I can get)

The Wombles
The Patridge Family
Bay City Rollers
Abba
Bee Gees
Andy Gibb
Leif Garrett
Shaun Cassidy

Intermediate

Anything on Casey Kasem's Top 40
KISS

High School

KISS
Anything from the late 60's and very early 70's (I call it my flower child years)
Then in late 4th form I recognised my long standing but up til now somewhat overlooked love of The Eagles and Bruce Springsteen.....
Back to KISS
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
The Cars

Then I left school and Born in the USA exploded so it was Bruce to the forefront again

and then my KISS years influenced me again and I discovered my love of hairspray bands and hard rock.....

Huhuuuhuhuhuhuuuuuuh, hu!
You move it to the left, yeah, and you go for yourself.
You move it to the right, yeah, if it takes all night.
Now take it kinda slow,
with a whole lot of soul.
Don't move it too fast.
Just make it last.
You scratch just like a monkey.
Yeah ya do, real cool.
You slide it to the limbo.
Yeah, how low can you go?
Now come on baby, come on baby!
Don't fall down on me now.
Just move it right here to the Harlem Shuffle.
Huh, yeah, yeah, yeah, do the Harlem Shuffle.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, do the Harlem Shuffle.
Meooow. Ooh haoooh!
Hitch me hitch hike baby, across the floor.
Whow, whow, whow, I can't stand it no more.
Now come on, baby [oh, come on baby!], now get into your slide.
Just ride, ride, ride little pony ride.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, do the Harlem Shuffle.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, do the Harlem Shuffle.
[Do the Monkey Shine]
Yeah, yeah, yeah, shake your tail feather, baby.
[Shake shake, shake shake yeah!]
Yeah, yeah, yeah, shake your tail feather, baby.
Huh, yeah, yeah, yeah, do the Harlem Shuffle.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, do the Harlem Shuffle.
Yeah, like your momma told you how.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, huh, do the Harlem Shuffle.
Do it, do it do your own, own shine.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, do the Harlem Shuffle.

Persuasion Timm Finn is fav kiwi song but I will be posting some kenny Rogers classics, he tells a story that man!

You and I
Tempted by the promise of a different life
Time has fled
There's a constant battle running through my head
I don't know what to do
'Cause I stll believe

After all the foolish things that we've been through
I will always be a man who's open to
Persuasion

Na na na, na na na na, na na-na na

Blind romance
There'll be no half measures given half a chance
But we never learn
Trusting in the fire while the cruel flame burns
And we need to rebuild
What was never there
What got left behind

After all the foolish things that we've been through
I can always make a start on something new
And I'll always be a man who's open to
Persuasion

And it's written in my heart
So that everybody could see it
And it's written in my soul
After all I still believe it, yeah
I still believe it, come on, come on
I still believe it, yeah
I still believe

I don't know what to do
'Cause I still believe
And after all the foolish thing you put me through
I can always make a start on something new
And I will always be a man who's open to
Persuasion

Coward of the County

Everyone considered him the coward of the county --
He'd never stood one single time to prove the county wrong.
His mama named him Tommy, but folks just called him yellow,
Something always told me they were reading Tommy wrong.

He was only ten years old when his daddy died in prison;
I looked after Tommy, 'cause he was my brother's son.
I still recall the final words my brother said to Tommy,
"Son my life is over, but yours has just begun".

CHORUS:
"Promise me, son, not to do the things I've done --
Walk away from trouble if you can.
It won't mean you're weak if you turn the other cheek
I hope you're old enough to understand,
Son, you don't have to fight to be a man."

There's someone for everyone, and Tommy's love was Becky.
In her arms he didn't have to prove he was a man.
One day while he was working, the Gatlin boys came calling --
They took turns at Becky, n'there was three of them).

Tommy opened up the door, and saw Becky crying.
The torn dress, the shattered look was more than he could stand.
He reached above the fireplace, and took down his daddy's picture.
As his tears fell on his daddy's face, he heard these words again:

REPEAT CHORUS

The Gatlin boys just laughed at him when he walked into the barroom;
One of them got up and met him half way cross the floor.
When Tommy turned around they said, "Hey look! old yeller's leaving,"
But you could've heard a pin drop when Tommy stopped and locked the door.

Twenty years of crawling were bottled up inside him.
He wasn't holding nothing back -- he let 'em have it all.
When Tommy left the bar room, not a Gatlin boy was standing.
He said, "This one's for Becky, as he watched the last one fall. (n’ I
heard him say,)

"I promised you, Dad, not to do the things you've done
I walk away from trouble when I can
Now please don't think I'm weak, I didn't turn the other cheek,
And papa, I should hope you understand -- ...

Re:Whats you favourtie old school song? Reply to this message
was born in a cross-fire hurricane
And I howled at my ma in the driving rain
But it's all right now, in fact it's a gas
But it's all right, I'm Jumpin' Jack Flash
It's a gas, gas, gas

I was raised by o toothless, bearded hag
I was schooled with a strap right across my back
But it's all right now, in fact it's a gas
But it's all right, I'm Jumpin'Jack Flash
It's a gas, gas, gas

I was drowned, I was washed up and left for dead
I fell down to my feet and saw they bleed
I frowned at the crumbs and a crust of bread
I was crowned with a spike right through my head
But it's all right now, in fact it's a gas
But it's all right, I'm Jumpin' Jack Flash
It's a gas, gas, gas
Jumpin' Jack Flash, it's a gas
