hi kiwi-beca, yep i think so to , as it came out the song so long ago! and is still viewed as a trend setting phenomena in regards to making this sort of thing somewhat Palatable for those who love music etc and other cultures, so to speak, just love Music and lyrics anyway, like many!
Lyrics depict a point in many peoples lives, no matter what music and do wonders for those who are prone to certain abuses in their lives! A mix of good and bad, and finding balance, music seems to appease many and the memories therein are a reality in many places in ones life! not all , but most! Chant a Psalm by Bob Marley! :) |

HONEY
See the tree, how big it's grown,
but friend, it hasn't been too long it wasn't big.
I laughed at her and she got mad,
the first day that she planted it was just a twig.
Then the first snow came and she ran
out to brush the snow away so it wouldn't die.
Came runnin' in all excited,
slipped and almost hurt herself, I laughed 'til I cried.
She was always young at heart,
kind a dumb and kind a smart and I loved her so.
I surprised her with a puppy,
kept me up all Christmas eve two years ago.
And it would sure embarrass her when
I came home from working late 'cause I would know
that she'd been sittin' there cryin
over some sad and silly late, late show.
And Honey, I miss you and I'm being good.
And I'd love to be with you if only I could.
She wrecked the car and she was sad
and so afraid that I'd be mad but what the heck.
Though I pretended hard to be,
guess you could say she saw through me and hugged my neck.
I came home unexpectedly
and found her crying needlessly in middle of the day.
And it was in the early spring
when flowers bloom and Robins sing, she went away.
And Honey, I miss you and I'm being good.
And I'd love to be with you if only I could.
Yes, one day while I wasn't home,
while she was there and all alone, the angels came.
Now all I have is memories
of Honey, and I wake up nights and call her name.
Now my life's an empty stage
where Honey lived and Honey played and love grew up.
A small cluod passes over head
and cries down in the flower bed that Honey loved.
See the tree, how big it's grown...(fading) |

Spent the last year
Rocky Mountain way
Couldn't get much higher
Out to pasture
Think it's safe to say
Time to open fire
And we don't need the ladies
Cryin' 'cause the story's sad
'Cause the Rocky Mountain way
Is better than the way we had.
Well he's tellin' us this
And he's tellin' us that
Changes it ev'ry day
Says it doesn't matter
Bases are loaded
And Casey's at bat
Playin' it play by play
Time to change the batter
And we don't need the ladies
Cryin' 'cause the story's sad
'Cause the Rocky Mountain way
Is better than the way we had |

Now there was a time when they used to say
That behind every - great man.
There had to be a - great woman.
But in these times of change you know
That its no longer true.
So were comin out of the kitchen
cause theres somethin we forgot to say to you (we say)
Sisters are doin it for themselves.
Standin on their own two feet.
And ringin on their own bells.
Sisters are doin it for themselves.
Now this is a song to celebrate
The conscious liberation of the female state!
Mothers - daughters and their daughters too.
Woman to woman
Were singin with you.
The inferior sex got a new exterior
We got doctors, lawyers, politicians too.
Everybody - take a look around.
Can you see - can you see - can you see
Theres a woman right next to you.
Chorus repeats.
Now we aint makin stories
And we aint layin plans
cause a man still loves a woman
And a woman still loves a man
(just a same though) |
