We didn't buy our first television set until 1977-78. But I do remember watching the first broadcast at my brothers home in Auckland, which indecently lasted only a couple of hours.
At the time, I couldn't think what all the fuss was about. |

| 1977-78, wow! Our papa got ours ab out 1965 and yes a couple of hours in the late afternoon/evening so to speak, black and white etc, hmm methinks the fuss would have been people being beamed into ones sitting room etc. Well it sure has advanced since then, and as one is not really a big television fan, the programmes suck basically. |

| We lived on quite remote sheep stations, which made having a television not exactly a top priority. As farmers, we made do with what we had. |

| The only programmes I enjoy watching on a regular basis is the news and Country Calendar. While my wife likes Shortland Street. Personally, I can't stand the bloody show. Would rather be working on my two novels. |

| Yes! I intend on having them published before I decided to kick the bucket. As I said to my son, it will give future generations an insight into what was live like back in my days. |

I'll have my cup of tea first.
Taranaki: remembers going up the Wanganui river years ago towards Pipiriki, where a lot of the abandoned farm were located to raid the fruit trees left behind my the chaps who walked off the land.
Does anyone know if the fruit trees are still there? |
