Actually was talking to my kids about my early life and said that we didn't have tv for a while but sat around and listened to the radio.
One of the things they asked was what did you look at?
I know I didn't read while listen to radio although I do read while watching tv, whether it was an age/skills thing I don't know. |

OH MY GOSH, I was the HUGEST, Jem and the Holograms fan. When I got that doll for christmas I was crying my eyeball out. Oh and after all the years, one of my best friends named her daughter jerrica...lol. SHE BEAT ME!
then there were the usuals... WHAT NOW, with SIMON and KATHERINE. Those were the days! Joining the What Now Club, and care bears...loved them!
Also, in the weekends I would stay up to watch the good night kiwi, I would cry, cause he was up there out in the cold, the music was so sad... AND... no tv till the morning. HAHA |

| Wonderful thread!Remember a Gerry Anderson puppet show The Herbs?Fireball XL5?Used to have a beach towel with the space ship on it.Thinking of the name of the monkey who flew around in Supercar. The Clangers were little creatures who lived in the craters of the moon with the Soup Dragon.Fond of Lady Penelope Creighton-Ward in Thunderbirds[and her pink Rolls-Royce}.Huckleberry Hound was one of my fav cartoons. And Quickdraw McGraw. And Mr.Magoo, voiced by the talented Jim Bachus.Batfink was ment to be a parody,I suppose, of Get Smart, which was ment to parody James Bond.I never new what to make of the inuendoes in Roger Ramjet.Local shows:Ooky Spooky with Baron Von Kooky.Button On,Button Off with Irenie Greenwood and Alma Jonston.Town and Around with Keith Bracey. My fav story line in Dr. Who was Marco Polo-he stole the key to the Tardis and wouldn't let the Dr. back in.Endora was my fav Bewitched character-she taught me to be camp.Tallulah Bankhead was my fav guest on Batman-Spiderwoman-she wore a black Balenciaga suit and called him Bat Darl and Robin the Little Boy Wonder. We were Catholic and thought The Flying Nun was pretty groovy.Sister Seekstoe went on to become the maid Rosalita on Will and Grace. The Mother Superior was Elizabeth Tayors' sister-in-law in the film Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.Time may have dimmed my memory a little here but I do recall falling about in laughter when Elsie Tanner on an episode of Coronation St. called a waiter a Fat Old *** for thinking she was a prostitute.I think Mum was a little shocked that I new what both those things were.Family Affair with Sissi,Buffy and Jodyand Mr. French.I remember reading that Bill Mumy auditioned for the role of Eddie Munster before he became Will Robinson-but his parents didn't wont him wearing that much make-up at work.Fav Time Tunnel episode on the Titanic with Susan Hampshire who was much later Lady Glencora in The Pallisers-now all on dvd.Hampshire was also in The Forsyth Saga in the '60s. |

Tahneenz, were you thinking of Stingray? And wasn't there a third Supermarionation show?
I liked The Terrible Ten, The Forest Rangers, Adventures of the Seaspray, and Lancer.
Someone asked if we remember Torchy the Battery Boy. Yes, I remember that one. What about Sixty Six Clickety Click. Was I right in recalling that was what was on first when transmission started at six o'clock?
When my own children came along I loved Tony Robinson's Fat Tulip and I think Sesame Street is consistantly the best thing that ever came out of America. A brilliant teaching tool. |
