| When you read the opinions you see first hand how badly this country is managed. With a professor and a junior lecturer at the helm and with a budget of 10.5 billion dollars few can even spell. Yes I can see that we need more labour. The professor spends 1 billion plus on a railsystem no one asked for - hundreds of millions were wasted on two clapped out, ex Euro charter Boeing 757's, 34 BMW 700 series at $175,000 each - Yes I can see that the 'workers' are looked after by Labour. The greatest cutie Michael, the Dr, the professor lost 800 million plus of our super money in the USA - the world's safest private bank RABO would have paid this bird brain almost 9%. Yes vote Labour by all means - arithmetic matches spelling |

I'd vote National if Keys and English were't on board.
But I'm reluctant to vote Labour becase of Cumliffe's handling of the Hawke's Bay Hospital Board' sacking. A democratically elected body autocratically dealt to.
I thought we were living in a democracy,but as time goes on the ravings of despots seem to be occuring more often. |

| Why is the mentality of this country to demonize rich people?They are only people just like anyone else and have got there by working hard.Its easy to blame the rich for everything and to make out they are all evil and nasty.I admire their attitude and their drive.Straight up,i think its straight out jealousy why people go on about the rich.I have no problem whatsoever with anyone genuinely needing a benefit and like to think my taxes go toward helping the genuinely unfortunate in society but i know some people who do bludge and it makes me real mad when i hear them critize the wealthy.And im just a average worker myself and i like anyone who helps themselves and i think national encourages that more than labour and thats why i will vote for them. |

Hey, remember that Labour have made kiwis bleed for years with their high taxes under the excuse that they are saving it for a rainy day.
The rainy day comes, the treasury's books are opened, and the country is massively in debt.

bronkhorstjohn - i will list what national did wrong in the 90's:
I have told this story on another thread but here we go...
I was a kid, living with my mother. She had been through a messy divorce with my father and was a solo mother looking after 3 children. No, she didnt work, she was a beneficiary and we were only just making ends meet when National got in. Do you know what they did? They not only increased the price of living in a state house by $60 a week, but also reduced how much she was entitled to on the benefit. Now, you have to understand, my mother vary rarely drinks, she is against drugs and yes she smokes ciggies, but my goodness im not suprised after living with my father for the amount of tme that she did. We were broke. We didnt have money for power and phone and struggled for food. I had a very generous aunt at the time who helped us out a lot. My mother ended up going bankrupt. It wasnt until Labour got in again that things started going better for us.
Im sure that we were definately not the only people that this affected. |

Yes I'll vote National.
All the people here saying National only support the rich have their heads in the sand.
The tax cuts that were scaled back at the expense of the rich, not the poor.
I love how people say that the Nats tax cut package does nothing for the poor. The affect on the poor is on the same scale as the rest of the country. If you do a 10% across the board tax cut, in terms of dollars in the pocket then yes, those on lower incomes wont get as much of a $$$ increase as higher income people. However they will still be getting 10% more money every week. |

| phoenix,i agree,higher paid people pay a whole lot more tax as well and people tend to forget that.As for the recent tax cuts,me and my partner get bout $30 a week more between us and can tell you it is greatly appreciated!! |

paerina - answering this late as I have been "working". Something a lot of people on these message boards don't seem to do.
But just to answer the tranz share saga - he wasn't privy to information no one else had when he speculated. It was an open debate in Parliament. Do you think Helen was keeping Key in the Loop? Yeah Right!
Anyone could have got the same information as Key had.
And why should he show his hand any earlier. Do you think Helen has? What are Labour's policies? I'm still waiting to hear. She seems more intent on tearing apart National's than coming up with anything of her own.
Oh yes, Tax cuts as of 1st October. Well done Helen & Co. - just before an election - how convenient. Well, considering food prices have risen 10.8% this year, your tax cut will put you just about where you were at the beginning of the year. And let's not start on petrol, etc.
I am fed up with "working for someone else's family". And if that sounds selfish, why shouldn't I be. I have raised my family and I work bl**dy hard for my money. There won't be 30 years of Kiwisaver for me to save for my retirement. |

sportflash: My father died and my mother was left with 8 children. She worked. We looked after each other and the youngest had daycare. We were poor. But she taught us that if we wanted anything in life we had to work for it. She didn't smoke, drink or bring strange men home. We didn't have a phone! She kept her family together and eventually she remarried a wonderful man.
So please don't tell me how hard it was for a mother with 3 children. |

selfish people vote national
there are a whole of people who would be better off under national but hear me now there are a WHOLEEE lot more that are going to be STRUGGLING
if i were on a high income i would have no problem with being taxed at a higher rate on my higher earnings to help. just because you pay more tax than those who earn less doesn't mean that you are better than them or are more entitled to make decisions on behalf of them.
the tax cuts that people are moaning aren't big enough - $15 a week might not be a lot for you but for a lot of other families that might be the phone bill taken care of, it might be a whole bunch of fresh vegetables from the market - if $15 doesn't matter to you then you probably don't need a tax cut anyway ... unless maybe you need a new tv for your 5th bedroom or something ...
labour is and has always been for the PEOPLE
national is for the INDIVIDUAL
come election time you should be voting for what is best for your COUNTRY not YOURSELF. |
