I agree - we need to get rid of MMP. Also of Helen Clark. The Labour government is becoming increasingly involved in our personal lives, the latest being our cleanliness practices!

Well done the kauriarch you have said a great deal and so right. I am just surprised that so many kiwis cannot see very far into the future.
taking the tax breaks out of research and development is alos stupitdity itself - I cannpt believe the stupitdity and and arrogance of and later leaks indicate that the leadershipt of the National Party is not to be trusted - NZ be afraid be very afraid

Denn

So you've seen a lot of elections?

Labour versus National.

You'd know then that they capitalise on each other's successes and retain the failures of preceeding govts so they can pass the buck.

And isn't this a political debate.

The word 'Liar' is redundant.

Yes, although they are not perfect they seem to indulge less in the childish personality politics that Clarke and Cullen seem to think we are fond of and seem so happy when they are spouting. I believe we have created a welfare nanny state and we all need to stand on our own two feet and be prepared to work for what we get, even if we do need some help from time to time (which we should be able to access). This aint gonna happen with Labour.

Re:WILL YOU STILL VOTE NATIONAL? Reply to this message
just a question?

considering that Helen Clarke and her party did not go for the Binding Referendum prior too the election is a sign that she or her co horts were a bit paranoid, maybe?

To cite that the general public would be a bit confused, does not say much for the voter does it?
confused about what as a former and I say fooormer labour voter, how dumb of her to think the public could not make a choice!
To have one after, etc...for what purpose?? etc...etc..just a query, any thoughts?? anyone!

Re:WILL YOU STILL VOTE NATIONAL? Reply to this message
Mate it cant get any worse!! How could it? People only think of their own individual interests & not the big picture. A country of NZs size should not have a deficit as big as 30 billion. The power freaks need time out on the naughty step to give this country the change it needs. When they come back, perhaps Helen will be demoted & they might be a little more humble....
NZ cant grow because there is very little industry to keep it going & it puts NZ in a dangerous position when it has to kiss the ass of both China & the US.
We are a speck masquerading as something much larger than it is....

Re:WILL YOU STILL VOTE NATIONAL? Reply to this message
Sorry, nut most of these tax breaks are a rort. they get accessed by large corporates (the majority of these are now owned by overseas interests) to become essentially a tax break and do not really help most businesses in this country.
Labour have some great ideas but no idea on getting these to the people effectively and making sure that the systems are not abused, which now seems almost part of new Zealand culture.

Perhaps we could find a good looking ex-pat for PM.

California got a hunk for a Mayor born in AUSTRIA.

Anything is possible. Dang it!!

Kaneio, your not up with the game. Serious investment is required to get this country back on its feet again. this needs to come from the private sector, employers need liquidity to invest into enterprises, this government has done nothing but burden them with tax upon tax upon cost upon cost. Its small wonder most have gone overseas to re-establish themselves. GO NATIONAL, GET BEHIND INDUSTRY, NOT UNIONS.
As for the surplus you speak about, where is it? Surely the government has better metrics in place to monitor where the money is at any given time? Its because, it was a load of bull and incompetence, precisely what happens when you have a bunch 'school teachers' running a country, very few of these people have held a job outside of academia or politics. GO the Blues!!!

Dr Cullen has been involved in the financial sector since he entered politics in 1984.

Being educated in history makes a perfect political candidate.

And what of John Key?

BTW.. Heard the latest?

The Brain Drain elements are begging to come back home.

Albeit, but it doesn't necessary provide you with an accurate scope on how things function. These guy's have never had to put their own money on the line, that's the difference and is something that Key has done throughout his life. He got a winning x factor folks. Cullen's performance in the private sector was a joke by the way, that's why he went lecturing

Ah the ever elusive X factor.

Its one thing to put your own money on the line.

Another to speculate with price-less heir looms kept in your family for generations for the sake of a commodity that fluctuates in value on the whim of global markets.

The Fenterra issue. A neccessary evil on the world stage whatever the government.

China is most definitley 'up' with the play.

Re:WILL YOU STILL VOTE NATIONAL? Reply to this message
paerina - when I hear that 33,000 have returned I'll start cheering - oh no wait - that was only this years leavers. Quite a few more to go before balance is restored don't you think.

Labour have got to go - even the US probably the most subtley corrupt country in the world has got the idea that more than 6 years of total power is a really bad thing. 9 is really pushing it and regardless of Helen's sexual predilictions, her weird marriage, of even her totally distorted view of herself (talking bill boards here) and her no doubt good intentions when she first entered politics she has been corrupted by the length of time in office - time to go!!!

Re:WILL YOU STILL VOTE NATIONAL? Reply to this message
Buckley - how has Kiwisaver affected small business. It is used now as part of wages negotiations - thats true but then it comes out of what the employee earns or have I missed the point?
I am 5 yrs from pension and though its a tight squeeze can just afford my weekly payment and looking forward to the lovely lump sum - now National plan to take away the employer tax credit - and THAT will hurt my employer and chances of a payrise for me.
All parties have good/bad points - I ususally vote for whichever party has a good policy which helps ME so guess who won't vote National this time

Kev

Sooooo Agree with you on the USA point.

lol bit much expecting ALL 33,000 to come on back.

I'm saying that some people are finding out it isn't always greener over THERE.

Know what I mean?

As for change. That would be great, but more and more I feel like I'm in a game show called "Spot The Difference " and some prankster has given me 2 identical prints just to see what will happen.

Re:WILL YOU STILL VOTE NATIONAL? Reply to this message
This is the absolute truth. But what the heck is everyone thinking !!! I have heard over the past few weeks, "no, I don't trust them, but that doesn't mean I wont vote for them."
"I'll vote for them because Key sounds so funny when he's caught out in a lie." For goodness sake people, even if you don't like Helen... this is the welfare of our whole country we're talking about, not the class captain!
If this nation of sheep votes National into power, we will be in huge debt, robbed blind, and New Zealand will be for sale to the highest bidder before the votes are all in.
