Well, I have just returned from the evil pommy country, after a holiday, in order to continue my superior life here. I was over the moon with the house prices and the cheap clothes, food, beer in the UK (I come from Hull, so cheap cheap cheap). However, I still chose to come back here. It really saddens me that I traveled half way across the world to read a posting stating that pommies (get over it, really, WW2 was a very long time ago, so was the actual movement of convicts to Australia, albeit, not nz) were raising the price of houses.
I sat next to two incredibly winging kiwis on the plane. Winging about Barcelona and Greece. Who can find fault with these two countries as a holiday destination? It was a shock to hear all this merry winging when in my head it is traditionally the English who have a penchant for winging. I sometimes fear that I have been brainwashed into thinking that us pommes are rude, ignorant, and winging. I return home for a holiday and am enlightened by the average person's ability to use words other than "the f word" as adjectives. Who have an interest in the arts and it doesn't revolve solely around the All Blacks.
Any English people living in NZ are educated and have depth to add to this culture. The reason these people come here is on order to integrate and experience a new and superior way of life. Have you seen the immigration process for goodness sake? It is not a walk in the park.
I come up against comments on a daily basis. You are just a winging pomme. What would you know about Kiwi literature (rather a lot, I actively read it), it gets quite tiresome and depressing. I sometimes wonder whether these kiwis that make the comments had a horrific experience in England, where they were treated with contempt and were mocked. | I have said it before and will say it again. It is a total myth that Immigration improves a Country's pool of productive talent. All it brings to the 'importing Country' is all the political - personal and religious baggage of their homeland. Don't compare pommie land with Kiwi land - if you find fault with Aotearoas, then piss off back where you came from. | UUUmmmm I am married to an englishman, who has lived here for 5yrs, he can't understand how our goverment gives handouts for the minority that whinges that they were so hard done by in the past, think about it, without the english where would new zealand be now. | There is too many poms here already,most of them dont want to get there hands dirty & they crawl to try & get the top jobs.I have worked with thousands of poms & i only found 5 good poms so far& majority can no be trusted. |

| Pipi et al need to be careful here. The UK hires a lot of Kiwi's and there are a helluva lot working over there buying houses and doing exactly what Pipi claims rather distortedly here. What is good for the goose is good for the gander. I notice Pipi is silent on Asians and far more of them are flooding here than UK migrants. Besides which it is only fitting commonwealth citizens have freedom of movement between commonwealth countries. Instead of being negative just view it as your back yard having gotten bigger. We are losing a lot of our skilled workers overseas and given Pipi cannot work all those skills then we need to get those skills from somewhere. Not the most intelligent thread I have seen here and extremely closedminded and ill thought out. |

Before slinging off at those who are keeping this country gong, perhaps Pipi should look at the number of freeloaders living in areas like South Auckland and Porirua, and see where the bulk of them come from - this thread is not about immigrants as such - it is about skin colour - RACIST c#*t!!! |

I am a northerner and married a southerner, there are as many northern people that moan as southerners. PLUM IN GOB, god i had to laugh it just shows the lack of education in people. I moved to nz in 1987 with my maori/irish/scots girlfriend from coromandel, I wondered why i never seemed to fit in, now i know why, gosh, i think i'll give up my nz citizenship, and my place on the local council(elected by the locals(nzers) pack up my carpenters tools and takeALL the other un-welcome visitors home with me, and then when i get there i'll tell all the kiwis to pi55 off back to nz shall i ? GROW UP!!!!!!! I'm guessing by the name you use that you are of part maori descent? I love how you intergrate into this multicultural society we live in. does anyone else sense my sarcasm at this post? The reason I left the uk aprt from my now wife, was because in 1987 and now in 2008 it's a 5hithole!! and overcrowded. And I agree with another thread that said there's a subtle difference between moaning and standing up for something. You sound like you've got pom neighbours that you don't like? then take it up with them not the rest of the country you spineless little whinger. |
