Re:playdough!!!! Reply to this message
Just googled Playdough recipes and one of them was this one which sounded good:

1 cup of flour
1 tbsp of oil
1 cup of boiling water
1/2 cup of salt
2 tsp of cream of tartar
2 tsp food colouring (optional)

How to Prepare :

Mix everything together in a bowl.
Add boiling water, stirring and folding over constantly. The mixture will lose its stickiness and will start to gather together in a big blob like pastry does.
Turn it out into a floured board and knead it until the mixture is smooth.
It is best played with straight away while its warm, but will also keep in a air tight container

Hi shellie

Gloop
2 cups cornflour
1 cup cold water
food colouring (optional)

Pour cornflour into a bowl
Add water with food colouring slowly, stirring constantly and stop when water is no longer absorbed by cornflour.

The gloop can be scooped up with the fingers, squished, squashed, or played with using kitchen utensils.

Nothing like tactile playing.

Re:playdough!!!! Reply to this message
Great Recipes - but I have a big family - makes about an ice cream container full:

4 Cups Flour
2 Cups Salt
1 Cup Cooking Oil
2 Cups boiling water
8 heaped teaspoons Cream of Tartar
2 teaspoons food colouring

Pretty similar to Sue.petersens one above, but on a bigger scale. The trick to losing the stickiness is the cream of tartar, and hand kneading until smooth - but remember - It' hot!

Re:playdough!!!! Reply to this message
Is playdough a 'politically correct' thing these days ?

Recall some rumblings some time ago about how some cultures might be offended by little kiddies making necklaces out of macaroni & such like, as it is considered a food !!!

Any macaroni police at Kindy ?
