Well I believe in God but a rainbow is easily explained it is light refracting through water at differing wave lengths attributed to each colour or near enough. I do think the bible shouldn't be taken so literally as God made water and sun light well before this big flood we read about and the science that explains the properties of light passing through water vapour hasn't changed since the Dude made them both so I don't think that was the first example of a rainbow.
Science is just the study of how things work and are made and what we can achieve with what Gods given us to work with etc etc so in my mind not at all at odds with Gods work. At odds with religion for sure but we nasty little humans invented religion not God. I'm convinced he just wanted praise and thanks from the beginning of this whole life on earth thing and a personal place in every persons heart that holds him dear.
We haven't explored the whole planet let alone the galaxy or universe so our understanding of all that is in it is really very small so i don't think scientist can get too full of themselves and their ability to explain all that is, all that was and all that is yet to come. Maybe if we don't kill ourselves and our planet and and the internet/computers remain as knowledge banks we may be more enlightened eventually. But we will all be dead by then and if I'm right and God exists I'll get to I told you so. Mind you way I'm going believing won't neccasarily save me. |

that a rainbow is god's promise to not flood the world again is quaint. i can make a rainbow at home with the hose, but i'm not promising i wont flood the lawn...
i don't think anyone in banda aceh would agree that god has lived up to such a promise. that's if there's even anyone left in banda aceh |

As long as there is life ,there is God for God is life . by his word he created all things and by his word all can have life and that eternal.
In the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God .All things were made by him and without him nothing that has been made was made. in him was life and the light was the light of men . The light came into the darkiness but the darkness canot comprhend it .....
and the word became flesh - His name is Jesus (one who saves )
whoever believes in him will not perish biut have everlasting life .. the first step is to display obedience and "beleive" those who do not beleive already walk in disobedience . to beleive is to obey and this is the good news .. that regardless of where you are at or where you have been .. today if you will not harden your hearts but beleive you will be saved . |

I also believe in Jesus, I cannot imagine a life if Jesus was not in it.
Thank you for reopening this thread it brings back some sanity into all the negativeness around us. Wouldn't it be great if all the energies dislayed on here could be put in a great big pot, add lots of love & compassion then handed out to all the politicians to put into their policies for the benefit of all NZ's.
We can all moan & groan as much as we want, but NZ is still the best place in the world to be. |

science takes way much too faith . its too illogical .
never can i be convinced that a random explosion resulted in the intricate order pattern and design of the world we live in and never has such a theory ever been proven, it remains a theory .. to say by an unproven scientific opinion that the world came about from a huge random explosion is about as logical as saying the random explosion of air from ones bum (a fart ) can turn into a chocolate cake . one would have to be fairly gullible to beleive that and gullible is not what most people are . |

| Adam-Victoria - The rainbow was a promise that the whole world would not be wiped out by a flood again. It does not say that different areas would not flood. It says what it means "THE WHOLE WORLD". Is banda aceh the whole world or is it just one small place. The bible does say that there would be disasters, wars and rumours of wars. Is that not happening today? |

there wont be haha . it has to be remembered that the very experiment they are conducting, itself, is based on a theory of a theory, so what they are doing is trying to prove if their theory of what "might" have happened is a valid theory and will result in it remaining .. a theory. |

interesting observation ,but last 10,000 years ? that's open to conjecture about conjecture . However the last few hundred years earthquakes and storms have increased and are increasing ..of that there is little doubt .
the lord Jesus said that many would harden their hearts and disobey .But it does not change the fact that he is and that he rewards anyone that diligently seeks him .
This is only good news , there is no gloom in this news , that whoever believes in the lord Jesus will not perish but have everlasting life . |

yeah well storms and their intensity are connected with the rising sea levels which is connected with the melting polar caps .. of course you know i am going to say the polar caps have been decreasing ever since man has been studying them ... ever since they came to be there .. in the flood lol.
and there decrease is causing rising sea levels which is changing the weather and all in perfect timing for fulfillment of biblical prophecy.
