Re:I believe in jesus
Not got anything against people who have faith - good luck to them - probably harder to have than not have and that takes courage - however I have said before - god is perhaps mor easily believable than Jesus as god ..

Re:I believe in jesus
If anyone had a look at what Jesus did you may be surprised...he wasnt an out of touch looney tune...he talked with prostitutes & helped an adulterous lady by telling her to leave the guy she was having an affair with..but he did with compassion not judgment & hate...some of you guys have got serious hate issues

Re:I believe in jesus
fiveg .. the only problem with that assumption is that people are generally not blaming 'god' for what happens .. they are saying if 'god' is so powerful why does it not stop what is going on

Re:I believe in jesus
To assume that God can stop what is going on is to assume a faith in God.

Can't be one or other.

No faith then no expectation.

Re:I believe in jesus
hi xav...

1> No problem, I know the feeling.
2> No the male cannot explain himself; he is derived from another male (and female) and so on. Even accepting evolution, the primordial soup cannot explain its own existence.
3> I would hope you are correct, but some of the more vocal atheists wh claim to be scientists import great faith in some of their 'opinions'.
4> The Judeo/Christian worldview has always posited a finite universe, that is true, but this is a position now vindicated by science. As to the source of the big bang, this returns us to the idea that nothing natural can explain its own existence.
5> Perhaps another topic for another time.

Re:I believe in jesus
Realityz you said: "so if 'he' can't stop what is going on then 'he' doesn't exist"

That statement is to assume the mind of God. God has already won the battle we are simply living out the fight between good and evil. Our choice due to our sin. If we want a perfect world then we ALL need to live according to Gods original plan and instructions for us.

Sorry but I don't buy into the simple option that God doesn't exist because there is evil in the world. Infact on the contrary I think it proves just how much there is the battle of good and evil going on.

Too easy to blame God or say there is no God because we suffer pain. Thats a cop out and a weak argument and excuse for life.

We humans want too much freedom. EG we want the freedom to have sex in whatever way we choose outside of marriage, BUT then we want God to cure aids and all the other consequences of sex???

We want to have the freedom to drive fast cars, speed, drink and drive, text while driving etc, BUT we expect God to stop every accident that results from our own carelessness?

Sounds like some people want God as a crutch instead of God as a loving Father that gives us good clear instruction on how to live our lives.

We humans want to light fires but we also want God to put them out and save everyone???

Can't have it both ways. Either we as a people listen to God and live accordingly or we listen to Satan and live accordingly.

BUT since we decided to say Gods a waste of time then DON'T expect God to pick up the pieces each time we get sick or hurt etc...

God wants us to learn. We won't learn if he keeps wiping up our mess.

People need to stop wanting God as a crutch and instead start listening to Gods good and healthy instructions and loving purposes for our lives.

Re:I believe in jesus
ok i dont have much time today , i just thought id have a giggle

realityzgreat .. if a bulldozer drove into your house and you stood in front of it and couldn't stop it ..does that mean you dont exists?
the point there i am making is that you preach a so called reality bit your arguments are seldom based on that reality and lack logical reasoning .

and on the real point .. tok is right , you assume wrongly in regard to the ability of God , he forewarned that what we sow that is what we will reap and his word is faithful and true.

Re:I believe in jesus
bc fairly i dont think the poster was posting blandness .
it was a valid enough point and raises a valid question . have you ever picked up the bible to read it ALL.
after all, it is what the entire bible states on any given topic that denotes the doctrine thereof .
this thread is rife where people have taken little snippets of the bible they have heard and presented them completely out of context to the whole .

Fair deal, no more insults from me.

OK all you religious folk, could please tell me why you believe in the tale of Jesus???

Did you have an 'experience'? if so briefly explain.

Were you born into a religious family???

Have you spoken to GOD or JESUS???

I am genuinely interested........

Re:I believe in jesus
w.lanz
Hi, I was born into a family of non believers who hate church affiliated activities.

My first encounter with church was youth group - which for me was a place to annoy the leaders, turn up to church / camps etc with alcohol. Basically I was rebelious and a real ratbag who used the church for attention. Very unhealthy!! But not uncommon. We even see it here on these message boards in grown adults.

I decided to take God seriously one day and started praying earnestly expecting results. My life got turned around and I was able to do the things I couldn't on my own like giving up my alcohol addiction, relationships etc.

Then I got over confident and decided I could do it all alone and so I walked away from God. Had some difficult years and recently decided to start trusting God again.

I feel so much better emotionally, and I enjoy life again, I see the positive around me instead of only focusing on the negative. I feel able to take responsibility for my own actions rather than blame blame blame.

In a way I feel lighter (emotionally).

God communicates with me via dreams, other people, answered prayers (had a lot of that lately), through the word. He even uses the enemy and turns things for my good.
Keeping in mind that God is spiritual so no physical contact.

I could write loads more but this is my shortened version. I have had a lot of grief from one in particular on these mb's so reluctant now to share too much detail.

But in closing I have Gods strength and direction in my life helping me with things I have struggled with on my own. Currently I don't go to church - partly due to my health and being house bound much of my time - but when I visit Auckland I visit my old church. Feels like family to me now.

I have many things I don't understand but deep down I have the faith that life is on tract and I trust in Gods timing.

Re:I believe in jesus
I was brought up in a "religious family" but later on I made a decision for myself. I had been encouraging a friend to go to church and keep in contact with other Christians. I saw him a while later and he was radically different. He made a decision for Jesus. I decided to go to a meeting with him. I have been encouraged in my walk with God. I studied First Wave Army at Lifeway College last year That was awesome!!!!

We studied communication with God as one of our topics.

Anyone can talk to God he is allways there to listen :)

Re:I believe in jesus
Hi Tok,

Do you read the Word for Today? Feb 27-1st March was the topic of Night Vision "He even uses the enemy and turns things for my good" your quote reminded me of that

"I will give you treasures hidden in the darkness" Isaiah 45:3 (NLT)

Re:I believe in jesus
W.lanz. I never believed God was anything other than a big dictator in the sky. At this church adn they said to ask him and he would reveal himself so i did and he didnt. Went home and decided to try this praying and did till one in the morning, gave him his third degree too. Then at 3.03am I looked at clock and thought passage light was on and sat up,room was filled with mist like fog and I reached out to touch it and it wasnt wet it was awarm and went up my arm adn each time i touched it the light across the bottom of thr room touched me, I was completely freaked out really! But not fearful becasue it was so peaceful. When I said "God if you're this real I want to know you" the room filled withthis light too bright to open my eyes and I felt a heavy cloak around me and i lay down and just felt God go through me. Now Im not the most trusting person after 12 years abuse as child and 4.5years domestic abuse adn was pretty hard but in last 4 years i ahve been healed emotionally and have come to understand my identity in God. That I am loved unconditionally! Sometimes when i am in a situation that means trusting him i will hear him clearly say Trust me child. you ask how do we hear him, he jsut drops these words into your heart and head, sometimes almost audibly but leaving no doubt hes spoken. I get bible verses and look them up to se what it says ans it is the answer to the question i have asked him. Sometimes people will say something theyve fest from God and it will be something I have asked Him about. I guess the difference is I found the holy spirit part of God that we can feel and experience. Thats how I come to know him, no body else, no preacher, no church although I go to one now.

Re:I believe in jesus
It would be very easy to dismiss unusual "spiritual" experiences as simply wishful thinking, day dreams or just attention seeking. Indeed, I am quite sure that many are just these. But some seem to be genuine and possibly cannot be readily accounted for. I am not suggesting at all that we have God (or even god) talking to us but these events are certainly out of the ordinary and effectus in various ways.

Re:I believe in jesus
Thanks for sharing what God is doing in your lives. It shows his Awesomeness and his Goodness. Just had a thought.... Has anyone watched Indescribable or How great is our God by Louie Giglio there even might be something on youtube or Godtube too. I got the Indescribable Dvd a while a go. I saw it during one of my lectures at Lifeway college.
