Re:I believe in jesus
Morning gam, Yes free will has it's good and bad points, good because when you finally make that choice, it will be yours and yours only. Bad because when you make the wrong choice, you will loose! Making a choice from a fear point of view is not a free choice and therefore it will have dire consequences for your etenal soul/spirit because you are trying to safe your 'skin' for the wrong reasons !(egoistic)Have a wonderfull day !

Re:I believe in jesus
I speak from my own personal experience Anthrop..so I know...

I am no spring chicken ..I might behave like one sometimes LOL!!!....I have walked this walk since I was 19years old and believe me I have seen life from the otherside of the fence..Been there done that...made my choice...
I believe in God the Father almighty creator of heaven and earth and creator of all that is within it ..right down to that DNA within every human being..
I believe that he sacrificed His son Jesus Christ whom he loved... He died an agonizing death and took upon himself the sins of the world. Right now He sits on the right hand side of Father making intercession for us..

OOPS! I am late for class Byeee!!...

Re:I believe in jesus
hi jay player...re the cross

1) Jesus was crucified. There is quite a substantial body of historical information on the web about roman crucifixion which will make it quite clear how jeuss died. But a warning, it isn't for the faint hearted.
2) The Bible talks of Jesus having nails driven into his hands and feet. From the descriptions it makes sense that he was crucified with outstretched arms.

It is a metaphor.

Knowledge will bring about a painful death.

Scare tactics for the so-called peasants.

Based on the Egyptian story of Horus.

Can only endorse all you two ladies say......
Everything you say rings true.
There are so many teaching a false gospel either that all they just scoff at the truth.
Still the Bible does say that this will be so...

Re:I believe in jesus
deecee,The bible text cannot be interpretated with ordinairy knowledge/intelligence. Christ crucifixion was a Spiritual Deed, made 'visible' for human understanding. How much do you understand of the spiritual part of the crucifiction ?

Re:I believe in jesus
jayplayer ,
i would suggest ,even if you have already done so , that actually read the bible , many of the questions you ask are clearly stated within it .
you are asking questions on maters debated outside of the bible .. the jehovah witness cult teaches it was not a cross ..( to myself as a born again christian proving or disproving the shape of the wood is not high in priority to the over all message of hope ) but the motive for doing so is to misdirect away from their own falsehood ,not to give honor where honor is due (which is fully with the word of God )
the mormon cult incorrectly teach that Jesus and satan were brothers ( in total contradiction of the bible )

you need to read or re-read the bible itself.
after all , you are free to do so

Re:I believe in jesus
Jayplayer:

an interesting sideline is the topic revealed by science about Laminin .. i don't fully understand it, but in reference to the verse that states .. "in him (Jesus ) all things are held together" . it is of interest that the protein laminin that binds all cells together in living beings is reflective of the shape of the t section cross.

http://myworldatlarge.files.wordpress.com/2008/01/ laminin.gif

this proves nothing in regard to the shape of wood used to crucify Jesus , but does give meaning to why God would cause that particular shape to be used . where other shapes do not reflect any meaning in such a manner and we know that God being GOD knows all things and it is no accident that the verse is written "in him (Jesus ) all things are held together and that this protein in us exists in this t section form .. not a stake not an x .

Re:I believe in jesus
To the Romans, jesus was of no importance and probably would not have merited being nailed to the cross, but was probably bound with ropes round his wrists--produces the same reaction when hanging there. It becomes difficult to breath, so the victim pushes himself up onto a small projecting support. But then falls off with exhaustion and starts to suffocate again. This continues for two or three days until the executioner breaks the legs of the criminal, so he cannot push upwards anymore. A particularly unpleasant method of execution, even without nails and regardless of what the bible says.

Re:I believe in jesus
hmm let me consider this didjaree ..

Jesus spoke the truth, i have applied what he spoke and experienced his word to be Truth .
both spiritually and tangibly .

he has healed , transformed ,delivered restored reconciled. So powerful is the testimony of his works that all the earth has been effected continually since then by the truth who is "the lord Jesus"

you claim to speak truth which is in contradiction to his words with no weight of works no witness from God no authority and no outworking effectual experiential evidence .
with a choice between who i am to beleive in regard to who is telling the truth and who is not ...

hmmm Jesus who has proved himself to me powerfully and whose word is effectually true (once applied has resulted in the promised outcome )
or you ..? no contest . Jesus is the truth .

if what you say is truth ..please prove it to me personally as the Lord Jesus has already done or admit you

Re:I believe in jesus
mike,

an insane person might believe the air outside his room is poisonous, because he was told so, so he never leaves his room.

Meanwhile... Outside his room, is the beautiful countryside. People are loving and living an having fun in the Sun.

Dogma and blind belief does not equate to anything but itself.

Re:I believe in jesus
hi jay...the cross isn't a hunch. I may not have made my earlier point clear. In historical records of roman crucifixion, the method was almost always a cross.
