All through the Bible are references directing the reader to hate this person that person...
I don't agree with this at all...

There are numerous verses on Love
Love your neighbour Lev. 19-18

And many more & of course what the Lord has done for us because he loved us so much & died that we might LIVE
John 3 verse 16
For God so loved the world that he
gave his only begotten Son

laurence...your response to my question is, regrettably, typical of much of the commentary here by non-believers.
You make irrational claims you simply cannot support with facts. This is a great shame, as you not only misrepresent something you have obviously no knowledge of, but you also miss out on it's message. |

deecee4, you choose to 'knock' what you see or believe as 'nonbelievers' and claim I make irrational claims that I can not support with fact. If only you looked at history, it records all, not just that as written in your book. I do not misrepresent anything, the claim of misrepresentation is made by closed eyes, shut off to reality. If there was a god, all powerfull, such as you believe he would have already destroyed this world as he would be that disgusted with what has been done and clainmed in his name that he would wish to start afresh.
So which knowledge is more questionable, that based on what has happened, or that based on a belief of what will happen?
One can not prove the existance of god, one has a belief, and this belief is unprovable, and this is fact. |

There's only one God Laurence and I don't happen to be him.
I do believe exactly what God has written & no verse out of context...it is the written word of God, having said this a lot of the new translations leave too much out, man should not tamper with the Word of God
We stick to the New King James version |

Droich...this is not personal. This is about getting to the truth.

I strongly dispute this, and our dialogue since has been robust. I specifically asked that we address one point at a time. I even allowed you the choice of the order of points we address. I waited for your rebuttal to my post on the first point, and then replied.
I'm sorry droich but your petulance seems more out of frustration that your position is not as strong as you had thought than out of any genuine offence. You initial bragging to easy has been replaced by defensiveness and despair, as point by point your argument has been exposed.
My suggestion droich is that you take a deep breath and reconsider, honestly, the position you hold. It is based on nonsense. |

ah, marionandgary, I am comparing the two books, as in some ways they are similar.And yes, I have used a bible to light a fire, as I had and have no use for such literature.
And i certtainley do not take 'instruction' from any book as such as yours. I am not saying that murder and mayhem is restricted to religion, I have said that much is done in the name of religion, so it is you taking words out of context, not me. And as for choose, we are all made with a brain, and this is in us to be used, and I choose for myself to use mine and select what it is that I may believe, and what I disbelieve. I use my brain to choose my path in life. Of my past, you now claim to know of, ah, you are so wrong.
Yes, I know all religions have extremetists, the kamakaze pilots or the 2nd World War were largely followers of Shinto. These were maybe the first 'suicide bombers'? |

| deecee4. I am unable to quote, because I no longer have a 'bible', and I have said why. I have also said that I only selected what I believe in, and as such discarded the remainder, but I do have memory and do clearly recall what some of that which was and is in it. |

| futtz, why would I do that. It actually served a purpose, likey one better than what some others use it for. I suspect that many are also composting at the bottom of landfills. At least I made use of the one I had. |

If you read the Bible word by word as like a normal book,
of course you'll not believe because you are confuse. I'm saying this by experience I was so confuse some did not make sense to me I started to doubt it.. Ive had a rough life after that example: quick tempered-separation-lust- abuse-alcohol abuse-drug abuse-lying-fighting-my family feared me, It came a time I was even cursing Him...
When I came to rock bottom I keeled and Prayed like the last resort... And like I always say "in due time"
Its the Holy Spirit that guides us through the Scriptures...

| hahahaha, so what you are trying to tell me is that to 'understand' the book you need to be in a certain 'frame of mind' to begin with. Well I am pleased I am not in that situation! To read, is not to be confused, it is how we take in that which we read. I am not confused, I know that I am in the real world. And there is only ONE!There is no paralell world but there is, in some, a fantasy world. |

laurence- so you say you can't quote verses to prove your points cause you burnt your Bible. Well, that's no excuse, in fact it's even easier to find verses to back you, if they exist, in any one of many sites- the one I use is
