and even in your KJ version, and possibly only in that version:
Exodus 32:14 God does evil.
Isaiah 45:7 God creates evil.
Jeremiah 26:3 God inflicts evil.
Amos 3:6 God causes evil.
Lamentations 3:38 Evil comes from the mouth of God.
Mark 4:11-12 Jesus deliberately spoke in parables in order to exclude some people from being converted and being forgiven their sins.
and other 'interesting'writings:
John 14:12 Jesus declared that anyone who believes in him will perform the same miracles and greater miracles than He performed. (Thus, anyone who does not perform greater miracles is, by Jesus's own words, an unbeliever.)
Mark 16:17-18 Also, that believers will be immune to poison and poisonous serpents, and will cure the sick by laying-on of hands. Note: The passage from Mark is absent from the two earliest, most reliable Greek m a n ucripts of the gospel.
Matthew 5:33-37 The Bible prohibits oaths or vows in any form, even oaths before God or oaths on the Bible. |

and robbie, maybe the best of all:
Matthew 10:34-36 Jesus's purpose on earth was not to bring peace, but conflict, strife, discord.
Luke 12:49,51 Jesus came to spread fire on the earth, and to cause not peace. but division.
Luke 22:3 Jesus commanded his followers to procure swords.
Luke 14:26 Jesus demanded that his disciples hate their parents.
Matthew 10:35-36 Jesus said he came to turn children against their parents.
I Corinthians 11:5 When women pray, they must have their heads covered.
I Corinthians 14:34-35 Women may never speak in chruch.
I Timothy 2:11-12 No woman is to teach, nor to have authority over men. |

hi mate
we all do what we think is the right thing for us at a particular time in our lives, we all make choices , you, Larence and anton have made a different choice to me and thats fine, I respect you all and the choice you have made, you will get no hysterics from me,I believe as long as you have done your research to come to the conclusion you have then you have made an imformed decision, that is your right mate.
I obviously have read it differently and thank you for allowing me to express my opinion without animosity or name calling.
"The terrible trio", my nick name for you three is not a derrogetory term but one of affection and appreciation that three people with a totally differing belief to my own can get along just fine as long as we respect each others rights and have boundaries we don't cross,
I don't accept your arguements against what I believe but I support your right to your view and that is what my religion is all about, tolerance etc, it's called Christianity.
Have a great evening guys (and gals)
regards Gary |

So christians be very carefull what books you read.
KJV seems to be closest to the original greek texts but
I always say go to the original hebrew/aramaic texts from which the greek came from. (ALTHOUGH, many christians will claim that jews wrote in greek first).
I believe you are correct with this assertion ,the NIV, New American Standard, and the New World Translation in a study I am currently reading have deleted, added or changed parts of the text, I am told that as copyright has been claimed on some translations of the Bible so to reproduce a royalty must be paid, so to avoid this they make changes , I am unsure the percentage but I think its about 10% to avoid copyright law.
We all know what the boble says about adding or subtracting from the "Word Of God" so the study appears to come out on the side of the King James version.
The King James is translated from the "Tectus Receptus which is historically the strongest claim of being the authentic m *** cripts" unquote.

| ummm...? Gary? The NIV removes verses from the Latin that weren't in the original Greek and Hebrew, that the KJV have, therefore the KJV is the inaccurate one. |

i have noticed that a group of christians love to talk themselves round and around in ever decreasing circles, working up to a crescendo that never comes.
must be frustrating... |

Do you realize that Christianity was borne out of Catholicism which had totally twisted the teachings of Yeshua?
The first Christian Church was established approx AD33 , Know as the Church of God or the Church of Christ,
about AD500 the first primitive Catholic Church was founded (amongst others)
About AD1054 The Papal Church of the west appeared (again amongst others)
But the Roman Catholic Church was founded In the 15th-16th Century
finally the appearance of the Catholic Apolistic Church in the 19th Century
Many Curches have distorted Christianity to thier own ends and that is why so many no longer can believe, but the church was not borne out of Catholiscism , I am aware they claim peter to be the first pope but the Catholic church wasn't even in existence, besides which paul was the deciple Jesus chose to convert the Gentiles, Peter and his team worked with the Jews so if anyone should be claimed as the first pope in should be Paul, But he was a persecuter of Christians and a tax collector so he wouldn't fit the image.

will i dive in on the bible translation topic ?
sure i will, why not .
here what i have to say .
lay down your pride
lay down your tradition
resist the wrongful spirit of religion .-
(he that has ears to hear , let him hear )
have you read the bible in mandarin ? Russian?
Japanese? Tagalog ? none of your theories of kjv or non kjv apply . God is able to defend his word and no mater how many attempts have been made ,somehow the message has remained the same for 2000 years in hundreds of different languages .
Our God is mighty . when a person receives the spirit of God Jesus promised that the spirit will lead that person into all the truth , minor differences of translation not withstanding . the spirit will give the person the correct comprehension . |

| thanks mike for putting it in perspective. I do enjoy my Mandarin Bible, but it's quite a challenge to read because much like the KJV it's written in high-flown, non-everyday language. |

Greater minds than ours have done this research from ancient m *** cripts, I am reading a university study on this subject done in the USA and one from UK.
Do you accept the passage re; the adding and subtracting from Gods Word, Revelations 22; 18 to 20, if you do find this in your NIV Luke 4;4
"Man does not live by bread alone but by every word of God", in my NIV it does not have the "but by every word of God" , how about yours?
how about Luke 4;8 "Get thee behind me Satan for it is written, Thou shall worship the Lord thy God and him only shalt thou serve" in my NIV it deletes the "Get thee behind me Satan"
Check out the Lords Prayer Matthew 6;9 I think you will find that the
"for thine is the kingdom,
and the power,
and the glory,
forever Amen"
The textus Receptus from which the King James Bible was translated has been changed in modern times in 6,000 places, I would do a little more research as I am continuing to do so.
Thank you for interest in this discussion, shows me that you are a thinking person, good on ya I say.
God bless
kindest regards Gary |

| :) lol @ mike... I read simplified, it's a difference in script. The traditional script has to be written in larger font cause it has so many twiddly bits. And it's harder to read and learn. Only Hong Kong uses it now. |

thank you gary for not just treating me as a little kid who doesn't know what she's talking about... in year 7 our (very ambitious) teacher was teaching us about this and why our school only uses the NIV in all primary and intermediate classrooms, but makes NKJV's available to the high school.
And he went through all that stuff about the textus receptus, but I'll ahve to find my old theology book to refresh my memory. |
