Moon With Shadows
Here, I came to these boundaries; searching
in my need to be explained.
The stars of my universe
all broken and taken away
to a bloody moon with shadows.
It was my language
ladies and gentlemen
my very words.
Let this poetess excuse herself
I'm going, to have a walk with my dog.
Pardon me,
I'll be busy now
picking up the pieces,
the imperfections of my flights.
I'm proud
completely finished
in my need to explain:
It was him, the spider-builder
that whiskered me
and my thoughts
mistrus.t.ful of everything
because everything I say
is unclean for his code.
I don't want in here
neither his moon
nor his flower!
I'm going back to my origins.
To my hemispheres. My earth.
My sky. My home.
I'm going back to myself
to revel in my native and maternal fires
and the sustenance of my very utterance
AMEN

Isn't Minerva a fabulously spectacular name...lol!???
Poet Warriors
Yes, we cry, the distant sanderling moons
Loneliness longing our wholeness of heart
Eyes mirroring the mystery of wounds
Sacredly merging truth's beauty with art.
Love it is, in all degrees we explore
Furiously hungry to know, we compose
Dressed as Poets and Warriors to restore
The quickening in the womb of a rose.
They say our wild flesh will finally rest
At the feet of love's most luminous verse
To sail along our soul's deepest request;
In nuptial honey these hearts shall immerse.
Unrestraining passe forms that contain
The sacrificial life, of this, our pain.

NO AIR
Clutching thy throat.
Trying to rgain the air you once had.
Ice cuts the skin.
Tearing is slowly away leaving you bear.
Your struggle to catch a breath.
Fighting to reach the surface.
Its a losing battle.
Your muscles begin to fail and you begin to go numb.
The breath you hold is slowly leaving.
Your body loses the will to fight.
A face looks upon you but you cant make out what the expression is.
your reach out.
They're gone.
The light you held fades.
The bubbles are gone.
You've fallen victim to Fates hands.
And as you decend into darkness you feel the warm embrace of an old love.
Now you are reborn.

Death is cruel,
Death is unfair,
Why death?
Does death care?
Death is unkind,
Death breaks hearts,
Why death?
Do you like to part?
Death is here,
Death is there,
Why death?
Why be everywhere?
Death is the end,
Death is to die,
Why death?
To make people cry?
Death was created,
Death is still here,
Why death?
We live in fear,
Death is death,
Death is dead,
Why death?
Because death said.

With ships the sea was sprinkled far and nigh,
Like stars in heaven, and joyously it showed;
Some lying fast at anchor in the road,
Some veering up and down, one knew not why.
A goodly vessel did I then espy
Come like a giant from a haven broad;
And lustily along the bay she strode,
Her tackling rich, and of apparel high.
The ship was nought to me, nor I to her,
Yet I pursued her with a lover's look;
This ship to all the rest did I prefer:
When will she turn, and whither? She will brook
No tarrying; where she comes the winds must stir:
On went she, and due north her journey took.

Fast rode the knight by Stephen Crane
Fast rode the knight
With spurs, hot and reeking,
Ever waving an eager sword,
"To save my lady!"
Fast rode the knIght,
And leaped from saddle to war.
Men of steel flickered and gleamed
Like riot of silver lights,
And the gold of the knight's good banner
Still waved on a castle wall.
. . . . .
A horse,
Blowing, staggering, bloody thing,
Forgotten at foot of castle wall.
A horse
Dead at foot of castle wall. |

WHO
Who really was that bawdy bard
Who held the world so mirrored.
Who chose a pen name for himself
and another for his wife.
Anne hath a way indeed she does
and will shake spear at time.
The man could spin a tale or two
he holds me rapt still yet
From all four hundred years gone on
since e'er he trod the globe
I know he's laughing at us yet
What was his given name ?

The Irish are a funny bunch.
They stop for tea instead of lunch.
They laugh and joke.. they call it "craic."
When they get fired it's called a "sack."
Don't ever ask one for a "ride!"
Say "lift." Then you may get inside,
Unless you need another floor...
The "lift" can drop you off on 4.
Don't say 'please pick me up at one.'
You'll be "collected" when your done.
Your bags will go into the "boot"
But you can't wear it on your foot!
Instead of hood they have a "bonnet."
OH, NO! there are NO flowers on it!
Clean diapers make a baby happy
So bring along an extra "nappy."
We Yanks will simply have to pardon
Calling what's out back "the garden."
When thirsty, it's not 'beer' you shout
But 'give us each a pint of stout."
Ah, yes, ONE person equals "US"
And "we" don't wish to make a fuss
While treading on this island, green
Where fairies dance and "shawlies" keen.
The four green fields are to my liking,
But I'm not Irish!
I'm a Viking!! |

Love's Blindness by Alfred Austin
Now do I know that Love is blind, for I
Can see no beauty on this beauteous earth,
No life, no light, no hopefulness, no mirth,
Pleasure nor purpose, when thou art not nigh.
Thy absence exiles sunshine from the sky,
Seres Spring's maturity, checks Summer's birth,
Leaves linnet's pipe as sad as plover's cry,
And makes me in abundance find but dearth.
But when thy feet flutter the dark, and thou
With orient eyes dawnest on my distress,
Suddenly sings a bird on every bough,
The heavens expand, the earth grows less and less,
The ground is buoyant as the ether now,
And all looks lovely in thy loveliness. |
