| the figures look great dont they, its all a big scam from helen and her team, lowest unemployment figures ever, what a load of bull,,, the ones that werent switched over to the sickness and invalids benefit were sent to the local polytecs etc, they then go on to an allowance, just another benefit with another name, still unemployed, still money for nothing, just no longer part of the statistics, and then the government crows about what a great job they have done, when in reality, nothing has changed |

I thought these message boards allowed us to express our gripes and groans? An outlet if you like.
I don't deny there are genuine cases for which a benefit is a real life saver, but equally I cannot deny that there is still a large element of people out there who sit back and take what is given without EVER trying to do anything for themselves, furthermore, they know the system and every EXTRA they can get out of it. That is what I WHINGE about and will continue to do so.
And while I'm at it, I'm going to lump all the working for families in there too, though not through their own choice these hard working families have been forced into a situation which requires their reliance on a "handout" from the government. So much has the reliance become that they are now too scared to vote anyone that will take their dependence away and offer them independence.
It costs more to tax someone and filter that tax through a government department before divying it up and re-allocation that it does not to tax them so much in the first place. There is a way that these families can regain their independence and it is not by means of a mis-labled benefit. |

As someone said there will always be fleas on the back, Ok you know some one who is fleecing the system so what, Big deal, So you think because of this every one on the benefit in the country is doing this??
When I was a kid my parents didn't have a Fridge,Washing Machine, Dishwasher, Car, TV, video, Running Hot water, We washed in the sink hot water from a kettle on the coal range, Bath was light the copper on a Sunday afternoon for a bath that night. Transport was a Horse'N'Cart. They rented a house and managed on my Dad's old aged pension,
Now everyone has a,car, washing machine, fridge, dishwasher ,TV,video, Running hot and cold water, And they think they are hard up.
I think a lot need to get rid of the green eyed monster sitting on their shoulder and think them selves lucky with what they've got. |

| Cunningfoxnz - No I'm not saying that parents with one at home raising children are bludgers. I'm saying that the governments "working for families" is not the way of the future. |

These threads are for people to express their opinion, so I will express mine on beneficiaries.
Those that CANT work due to the loss of a limb or are blind etc... no problem with them.
Those solo parents that have lost their partner through death no problem with them either
It is the ones that SIT ON THEIR BACKSIDES and fritter MY money that I pay as taxes on gambling, drinking, smoking and drugs that I DO have a problem with. Wouldnt have a problem with it if they spent the money on their children eg clothing, food, shelter etc... |

| in future dpb for a maximum of 2 children, and only if at least 3 years apart ... amazes me how we give an incentive for people to have kids when they will struggle to give them a decent upbringing |

adam-victoria
just in reply to yr comments yesterday, I have to assume they were in response to mine?
I never said NZ is a bad place to live. And, my family was carefully planned, thank you very much! We left NZ because we were running in place. Culturally diversive, natural beauty, yes. Much the same as the country we now live in, and here we get a 'lifestyle', and gone is all the endless worries of getting a head, or even staying in place. If only everything was as simple as you would have it. |

| yes, part of what i said was in response to your post about nz being too difficult a place to get ahead in. i made a few comments in that post, and also mentioned working on societal issues. both of us work hard not only to improve our own lives, but to help young people to improve theirs. we could never get the rewards we get, from contributing to our people and our home community, by living in another country. there's only one nz, and our family and ancestry is here. that's what's simple |

| yes, and my family and history remains in NZ, along with my heart. Still contributing to my community at large over here, with charity work etc. NZ and my community there misses out on that and the work I did, mainly because it was proving impossible to support a family there. Sorry to hi jack thread away from cental theme., was all good stuff |

So if you couldn't care less why you making a big fus about it?
There are plenty of rich dudes ripping the system off by dodging their tax bill massaging their income to avoid tax,
Why don't we have a go at them for a change?
Have a read of last Sat/Sun Herald about a couple dudes section B. |

| I have been following topic for a couple of days now and I am surprised have many people know someone that is defrauding W & I. Why don't they have the guts to gather facts about these people and contact W & I with it. You can do this completely anonomously.... I should know I've worked for the business for 20 years!! All allegations are looked into if you can provide good factual information. Go on take the plunge - doob in a fraudster!! |

People always attack those on benefits, especially in an Election Year.
Must make them feel good. |

| I love my job working with clients.... there are so many different reasons why people are receiving financial help. Most are genuine clients. It's unfortunate that the small minority that defraud W & I make it hard for the majority (honest people requiring help). |
