| I dont think they should carry taser's. NZ is not employing rocket scientists to preform the role as revenue collectors AKA (cash cows)and what is worse is that there are dishonest police out there as well. I was given a ticket for speeding the other day when we (my wife and I ) know we were not and had cruize control on doing 103 and he said i was doing 112.asked for the time the speed was measured he refused (wonder why?)and then he also refused to show me the calibration cert as well. I was also travelling behind the police car on a long straight road. makes sense to catch up to a police car speeding????? what faith do you have in the justice system now????who would you complain to? The POLICE??? or police with TASER GUNS no thanks i rather live in Bali at least they ask for money then and there then leave you alone. |

Tasers bloody good idea, bring them in fulltime.
People should not be afraid of them unless they are thinking of breaking the law or do something to draw attention to themselves that is suspicious behaviour |

| you won't see anywhere as many deaths from these things as you will from hand guns....these things can be, or are fitted with a serial number that stays with the tags that cling to your colthing etc....they ID the fireer or the device that was used....if you have a weak heart....don't be a criminal....don't stand on the ledge of a ten storey building...refusing to give yourself up, or taking the piss out of a cop, or you could die from one of these....when the man says stand still, stop, sit down, hands up, hands behind your head....bloody do it...simple as that.......take rights completely away from prisoners....f.@.r.k em |

How many people have died as passengers in cars?
And how many police have died in the line of duty since june 2001?
How many wifes or husbands of police lost there love ones since june 2001?
How many of those 290 people were just going about their day to day business not breaking the law? |

The scum already have guns
The point being made is that Taser will be a safer option for all. If someone is unwell at least they have a good chance of living,where if unwell and threatened and shot......well you are dead. |

| I aggree with you in priciple but look at the poor cop that has to pull the trigger and cop all the flac for protecting his own life. Tasers wil fill the space between the assaultive offenders and the offenders who are out to cause death. long since over due. |

4: I know of one person who died as a result of tasering
that was not a criminal

My point is to the original question of " Taser Guns Good or Bad? " is yes perhaps a good idea , but also bad , there is alot of unanswered questions about these defence devices and now alot of warnings being issued due to there growing contribution to deaths.
cripplemoron do some research , the idea is to stop crime , not kill people , these devices have been proven to attribute to the cause of many deaths |

| My point about cars is that police use cars to transport people and people die in cars, whats next sorry people die in cars your going to have to walk back to the station, sure people will die, good people die during life saving operations or waiting forever for those operations. I would rather see the person that the cops having to deal with die than the cop whos trying to keep the peace. Death happens needless death happens in all aspects of life, if colorful language and a feather duster would work I would rather that, but guns kill more people than Tazers and cops deserve to have and option between having to shoot to kill or be attacked. |

| People are to quick to say you cant do that but never spare any though to a solution, If hugs and feather duster would work then sweet, I don't think anyone in their right mind would dispute that the world is becoming a more hostile place but its not fair to let one team use what ever they want while tying the hand of the other team who are meant to be the good guys. I bet to that the people that are anti the tazers are the first people to point the finger at police when someone goes on a rampage and they don't take the guy down quick enough, we don't live in a perfect world and no solutions going to be perfect, deaths happen and its sad for the families and friends left behind but people do things to invite death everyday, saying I was tazered and it could have killed me while smoking a ciggy springs to mind as an example here. |
