In this thread I'd like to look at evidence supporting the events of the bible - noah's flood in particular, but hey, go for your life, tell us what you know.
For non-believers, what do you know of this evidence? what alternative explanations are there?
Does physical evidence of biblical events require faith to interpret what we see as actual evidence? |

| i recently read something on the cocnino sandstone deposits, wherever they are (i'll find out), that they had been incorrectly interpreted as wind/storm blown dunes, and were really dunes created under the water from a global flood. reeealllyy, i thought to myself. |

| Amen to that adam lol. Whenever people raise a good point concerning the accuracy of the Bible, all the Christians not only defend it, but don't admit to the discrepancies... It's hard to make people believe when what you base your belief on, does not have the basis to be entirely believed in. |

hmmm, i was hoping for some illustration of that point. i know some people who are right into the geological evidence for the literal translation of the bible, but when it gets down to it, they always say "well we know it didn't take thousands of years, because the bible says it only happened in human history".
i attended a lecture once by a geologist who even denied that tree rings are evidence of yearly growth. |

| What I meant was that, whenever someone says so and so about the Bible, eg Adam & Eve etc, the birth of Jesus, or the stuff about Christmas and what not, the so called "god/jesus lovers" turn a blind eye... And instead begin attacking those who don't believe and go off in tangents. |

Yeah hi Adam.
Just repeating earlier posts but there is a factual lineup of the planets that only occurred -4AD over bethlehem. Astrologers would concur that this was the most perfect birth chart that would mathematically occur within 40 million years and could have been tracked by the Wise men at the time.
The person born under this chart represented the closest to perfection born on this planet, without the inner conflicts that the rest of us experience. The person was fully integrated energetically.
For each of us to attain the same perfection (astrologically speaking) we need to examine and overcome our internal conflicts and reach the example that the other dude set for us. Not go to church and do what we are told and believe what they say, for in doing so we are subjecting ourselves to the imbalances of others. |

It all boils down to individual beliefs..it can be anything, not only religion..why do you believe in what an "expert" say? Why do you believe the world was created billions of years ago? Because the scientists say so?There's so many scientific discrepancies in recent times and yet we accept their 'scientific theories' as fact!
So it's not about having to prove anything, but just the fact that humans need to believe in something. |

Gam - thank you for your thought provoking question. I will answer from the Astronomical (planetary movement) perspective as opposed to Astrolgy (belief system based on planet alignment effects).
For all of recorded history back to ancient Sumeria the movement of the planets has been predictable and regulated, each rotating on it's orbit around the sun in a predictable manner.
To ask what did the planets look like at creation goes beyond what currently IS. Either creation designed all planets as they are now and from Day 1 they started and continued along their current physical path OR they have undergone numerous changes along the way and at some point became and remained as they are now.
Of course we know through the observation of Supernovas and other stellar phenomena that other Solar Sytems are not static and so can safely (?) assume that our system has not remained in its current state since creation.
1500 years ago the Mayans wrote up their calendar which to date is only 33seconds out on it's approximation of where the moon's position is. This same calendar "ends" on December 23 2012, at the time of the Summer Solstice being aligned with the centre of the Galaxy (occurs once every 26,000 years).
This from an Astronomical (read FACTUAL) view point is the single most significant event since the birthchart of the perfect man over bethlehem in -4AD. Since the latter would appear to my mind to denote the Birth of Christ and is predicted and documented in the Bible ... then What in Heavens name is the forthcoming event and is it predicted in the bible??? |

Hi Adam , re your leading statement bringing into question evidence or lack there of, pertaining to the flood in Noah's time ..
I too am waiting with interest to see what comes forth .
evidence is never conclusive to a person who has predetermined to undermine that evidence .for or against .
I know there is a boat shaped object on the sides of the mountains of Ararat in turkey .. its made of petrified wood, scans taken of it using the same technology with which they now find buried bodies deep in the earth have shown it to be definitely not natural ( not a natural geological occurrence )and oddly has the same measurements and design as described in the biblical account &is in the correct geographical position( as per the biblical account i mean )
hopefully- {without people flying off the handle into religious and non religious conjecture)- every one can give more evidence for or against, either is fine and then from that stance give opinion of what they think this object might be .
I mean if it isn't the ark described .. which apart from geological evidence such as the fact that mount Everest shows evidence of having been submerged in water.. [evolutionists will say because it was once low and rose higher -creationists will say because of the flood] -neither can prove so dead end there }.. then what is it ,why is this boat shaped object sitting on the lower mountains of Ararat , where did it come from etc etc .. |

Hey AV.. RE :-i attended a lecture once by a geologist who even denied that tree rings are evidence of yearly growth.
I have heard this theory before also .. not so conclusively worded as that . The theory was that the rings in trees were not a definite indication of age because the occurrence(of the rings) was caused as much by climatic change as by time . the theory of rings = age being challenged by the thought ,that in a colder dryer season rings would form with less definition in a distinct climate change such as a cold spring to an unusually hot summer the rings would be more defined also a warmer winter interrupted by a cold snap for a month could give extremely defined rings in the growth of a tree and a tree growing in an area of fairly static temperate condition can show very little definition in ring formation making measurement of the age of a tree fall into the realm of .."guess work" . |

| KiwiGd - great question... NO - the alignment was only perfect at 9.14am in the morning exactly at one location Bethlehem is the closest the software breaks it down to but could have been pinpointed to the exact place if sufficient skill was employed. One metre or minute either side and it was no longer mathematically perfect. |
