| If you have adsl and your fax is interrupting it it sounds like you have an issue with your filters. And yes if you have a wireless router you should be able to have network cables connecting your pc or get a wireless card for them too and multiple computers using wirless at the same time. |

Hey, crip! Wireless may help smiley, but it will bring with it concerns about securing access to ensure no neighbours download porn through her internet service. Don't like having the police knocking on the door at 5AM!!!
In the short term, though, she's probably got all she needs to have 2 simultaneous hardwired internet sessions on separate PC's. The only missing bits are:
a) a serviceable length of ethernet cable
b) the knowledge to set it up.
How many desktops are ready for wireless these days? I don't know. And, not all notebooks have the hardware for it, either, I think. NOT AN EXPERT by any measure. :-)
Hey, folk, I'm the one who started the thread on saving soap s c r a p s... Anything to postpone having to buy into the next revision of technology that'll last 18 months, then to be superceded. |

Hey smiley
you need to get away from dail up and go broadband
if you do that you can have your computers, faxes and phones all working the same line
Just don't have your home alarm system hooked in for outside monitoring
The alram system sends pulses down your phone line to the monitoring centre and those pulses will disconnect you |

I dunno about two cords, looks like there is only one place to plug the blue wire that goes into the adsl and out to the pc, but the good thing about being a home worker... THE BOSS PAYS FOR THE TECHNOLOGY!!!
I spent nearly two hours on the phone to Hewlett Packard about this issue... their customer services are overseas, lovely chap, really patient, but it took ages to explain "faxability"... two numbers, one phone line to him.
I believe it is the filter, and so do they, but it isn't faulty, because my old fax (one not connected to the PC) worked fine.
I think I will have to have separate phone jack points for fax and adsl...
But anyway... my problems, don't mean to harp on and be boring... and I appreciate the help.
I'd like to think somebody would write a book called "technology for idiots", but am quite sure by the time it hit the bookshelves, it would be totally out of date. |

| It's clearly home time, these boards go notably quiet just before 5 then ramp up again when everyone gets home... |

i do have broadband, ha ha, but keep exceeding my 6gig usage (well, it's the kid's fault) and those lovely people at telecom reduce me to dial up for about three or four days a month.
Ain't they sweet? Like they don't have enough to do! |

| I have a adsl router rather than wireless. I can connect upto four computers at one time to the one broadband connection. I like the kids to use the internet where I can see them :) |

I had that go large plan too... wasn't going to give it up, but Telecom hassled and hassled, and when I was having a few problems... they blamed it on the Go Large plan and "suggested" I change.
they are cunning buggers, wish I hadn't listened to them. |
