Dishonest Policing Reply to this message
NZ is not employing rocket scientists to preform the role as revenue collectors AKA (cash cows)and what is worse is that there are dishonest police out there as well. I was given a ticket for speeding the other day when we (my wife and I ) know we were not and had cruize control on doing 102 - 103 and he said i was doing 112. I asked for the time the speed was measured he refused and stated that it was on the ticket then he also refused to show me the calibration cert as well. I was also travelling behind the police car. makes sense to catch up to a police car speeding????? what faith do you have in the justice system now????who would you report this to the POLICE???

There is a process, if your facts are true write a letter explaining your story, and request the info again. If it stacks up and I know alot of people that have had fines reversed they will reverse it. cruse control works on your cars speedo, if its out due to not standard wheels/tire size or general calibration issues your cruse control could be wrong.

ITs a new car, Mitsi outlander and when i travel through towns with the signs that say your speed is, with the led lights they all work ok. I know all police are not bad but its hard when you know you are right and the police man in this case is ripping the public off. but they are like a brother hood and who are they going to believe. A fellow officer or a public citizen? all i know is he should be ashamed of himself for doing this to people

Write away, Im not kidding if in doubt alot of them issue tickets, write way ask for a copy of the radars compliance certificate and if if the cop has been trained in the use of that particular radar system and a copy of the notes thats written on the back of the ticket, you don't see this but the cops add notes to the tickets for their records, alot of the time they will just revoke the ticket instead for wasting the time suppling you with all the info.

Re:Dishonest Policing Reply to this message
Its not the financial aspect of this its more the injustice of it and the simple fact that police are out there illegally handing out tickets to us, the New Zealander citizen just to reach there daily quota and it needs to stop. The average victim to this would probally say "oh i didnt think i was going that fast and just wear it with a grumble. but we need to stand up sometimes and ensure that it doesnt continue. if i was travelling say 110kmph then i would say oh ok but this was more than obvious that the police was outright lying. my wife is a reg psycoligist and a specilist in behaviour and has an excellent judgement of a person's facial expressions especially when someone is lying. But she too is just a NZ public citizen. Who would the judge side with when it matters? wouldnt be a good bet now would it!!

Re:Dishonest Policing Reply to this message
yeah I myself thing that part of the revenue they gather though speeding should be give to well established charities and not just be a cash cow to be milked, Most people will just cough up the money and not go through the hassle of fighting it. Ive had plenty of fines when I was younger, some of them I though were a bit on the nose but at the end of the day I was in the wrong. Funny that you don't get the treads about IRD shafting the general public they are alot worse than the men in blue.

I should also note my young son was in the back at the time during this ordeal and even he said "dad you wernt even going fast. how do you explain that to a six year old that that police man is a bad police man but they arent all bad?
I say good on the good police for catching speeders that deserve tickets if they are speeding lets face it cars are faster, roads are the same and innocent families are travelling on our roads. but when those innocent families are getting tickets for NO REASON what so ever, then come on. Something needs to change.

Re:Dishonest Policing Reply to this message
He has to show you some proof of the offence given, yeah and they wonder why alot of people have lost alot of respect for them, years ago it was normal to walk down street and stop, chat and say hi. but these days, you caught talking to them for too long it looks suspicious. it only takes a few to make the rest look bad and have less respect for.
