Mozarella I think you made some excellent points. Maori are supposed to have left Hawaiiki for NZ in 7 Waka. The Rarotongans say the Polynesian Maori left Rarotonga in there 7 waka for NZ, the names of the 7 Waka that left Rarotonga, are the same as what the Maori have called them eg, Tainui, Takitimu, Ngatokimatawhurua. So does this mean the Celts had stopped in Rarotonga spread there culture including the Koru designs to the Rarotongans, YEAH RIGHT. The Rarotongans have very similiar Maori designs to the NZ Maori.

mozzarella68 It may be due to the article in the Sunday paper that the skull found in the Wairarapa has been identified as a European middle aged female and has been carbon dated and has been found to be older than James Cook or Able Tasman's first visits to NZ ,in other words it has been confirmed as pre European ? even though it is European ???

The tatoo's are similiar but not related, ours are blue not black, more circular and to my knowledge our history doesn't lend to coming to the pacific.

Also how they date the skull they found...carbon dating has a error margin of many years, the older an item is the greater the error..so the skull could be anything from 100 years to 10,000 years...more likely the chineese were first here, thats why so many of my Maori friends like chow mein lol
