Hi ya Was!

I did not expect any grading for my somewhat meagre offerings lol! If I did I would expect something in the Olympic proportional arena, to reward my knowledge of factual history. However basic maths and astrology should be considered to give this Celtic/Viking theory credibility, debunk a myth so to speak even if it is only to debate a possibility.

Has any one told you, that you have such a sexy way of disseminating fact from fiction? Do you use a slide ruler or is it strait out of your head?

Huckleberry Finn did not do things with purpose in mind. He was simply a born adventurer. Are you saying the Vikings did not have an adventurous spirit to explore new things, for the shear hell of it, like Huckleberry did?

If throwing or scattering about a bit of factual history into a theory, is sexy Lol! that is funny, I must say I am still laughing. No I do not use a slide ruler!! Yes most of it from my head and of course books. Fact with a human component, mix it altogether and there you have it rather random, my thoughts would be that a lot of scattering would have occurred in the heads of past philosophers and astrologers, let alone geometrists back in history, maybe it gave rise to the term "SCATTERBRAINED". LOL!!

Wasullivan:

good ole huckleberry and tom sawyer would have had purpose in mind. All people who would have navigated back in history would have possessed adventurous spirits in the hope of discovery, not for the hell of it. So in order to give The Celtic/Viking theory according to Mozzarella or Doutre is to inject realism from world historical facts, dont you think.

Re:Ancient Celtic New Zealand Reply to this message
Me Gad. My hero Huckleberry is now looking abit flat. How presumptuous it is to think that all the most exciting discoveries humans have ever made are within our oral or written history. What about the very first person that realised he or she was not a monkey. I mean, what a eureka moment that would have been. Or the very first person to invent man made fire, or the wheel. Did we even have an oral language, let alone writing, back then? No we didnt. We just grunted things like, WTF is that?

Wasullivan:
"sailing off a flat surface is Christopher Columbus". LoL!!
Did they grunt back then? It is not presumptuous to think outside of the square, however if one is talking and debating a Theory as Mozarella is suggesting, all aspects should be considered or could be considered, fact or fiction. Cave drawings away from grunting back in history, are a fact. What does WTF mean, seriously I have seen it on many threads, but have no idea what it is, seriously.
One can only guess that early man or neanderthal grunted, how do you know, have you got proof?

Re:Ancient Celtic New Zealand Reply to this message
If our earliest ancestors did not chance things to random, then where did I get my devil-may-care attitude from? I mean, if have an; I dont care if I fail - Im still going to give it my best shot attitude, like Evil Kanavel. Then where did that spark of human endeavour come from, if the ancients did not have it?

Wasullivan:

Possible, but what I am referring to using the previous term about the genes, is the learning and retention of knowledge, not everything can be discounted in the Navigation aspect of this posts initial beginnings.
So acquiring new terms such as language and the use of acronyms to express a statement such as WTF, you would have picked it up from someone, or somewhere etc.......

I.E. The learning and retention of knowledge, is what is commonly known as IQ, or in other words, the ability to solve a given problem, which indeed is derived from the genitival predisposition, that some, but not all, are born with in abundance, or in other words, Eugenics as opposed to dysgenics.

LOL...you crack me up. Ok, so being a "thread master" is whack, I'll give you that.

But so many other thread disentegrate into garbage and those who actually have something worthwhile to say get drowned out by all the war mongering.

So, if I throw a few F grades around it really only means hat I think the person could have made a better effort and/or is clearly just trying to hate on others.

None of us are historians in the educated sense - me included.

I'm just trying to keep a level playing field and encourage some type of standard.

For the record, I think your last post is your best to date on this topic. Well thought out, cohesive and coherent.

A good case and worthy of debate. You get an 'A'.

Re:Ancient Celtic New Zealand Reply to this message
RULES OF ENGAGEMENT

The preposition of this thread is that the Ancient Celts/Vikings visited NZ sometime around 1200 AD as suggested by Martin Dourtre. Refer to page 1.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to use reason and intelligence to argue the point one way or the other.

I don't actually care what your point is. I only care that you make an effort to argue it intelligently.

With that in mind please observe the following rules of engagement:

* Do not make personal attacks since this only proves
that you have run out of anything intelligent to say.

* Make an effort to argue your point, don't just push your own agenda with pointless conjecture.

* Try to use as much factual information as possible i.e.
something that can be corroborated.

* Respect other peoples opinions.

Re:Ancient Celtic New Zealand Reply to this message
But Mar, --- Its all relative to how the earliest adventures might have thought, or what may have motivated them to do what they did or didnt do. There are so many on here that have mooted, that no one in those past distant days, would ever have merely paddled or sailed off into the distance to find out whats out there, for any reason, whatsoever! However, such assumption, flies directly in the face of what it is to be Human, or, is the common adventurous spirit so many have today, a recent phenomenon, we have developed, that the ancients did not have?
