Safe teaching environment Reply to this message
I've been teaching in christian, bilingual and mainstream classes at six primary schools for nearly 12 years and have had to stop, diabetes and dodgey ticker. I've read and heard a lot of information about the classroom being a safe learning environment. I believe that a safe learning environment comes from that same environment being a safe teaching environment. Only at one school for three months in all of those years did I have and enjoy a safe teaching environment, and my learners enjoy a safe learning environment. I hope no teacher in any classroom has to put up with what I did

Re:Safe teaching environment Reply to this message
Hi mike

Some of the things that made my teaching environment unsafe were, parents complaining und making unjustified threats at me, collegues setting me up to fail in the classroom, me walking out of sessions to avoid hitting students who are being off task and down right rude, bad mannered, arrogant and offensive. When I was a student I got strapped for that kind of behaviour. These days it's against the law to do that. It takes a lot to make me angry I walk out to be safe and what happens? I get penalized for walking out.

Hi big pumpkin Im glad we havent got to the point where children walk into the class with bombs and guns to blow up and shoot people.

Re:Safe teaching environment Reply to this message
do not mean to be pedantic, did they complain about your spelling? or the fact that the so called unsafe environment probably lead to further obtuse discourse.

Seems like you were no longer built for the job! Maybe you should have slapped on or two around a 'little' which would have given you huge play ground cred! LOL

Teaching is a tough job.

Give them the respect they deserve for dealing with your brats day in and day out.

See if you'd like it.

Support the Teachers.

"REPECT" for the bad spellers out there
for the rest of us
"RESPECT"
