I have read with dismay that not only has this Labour Govt. provided millions of Dollars to bail out NZ Opera, but the Auckland & Wellington city councils have aslo voluntarily contributed. However, what was more alamming, was the comment by NZ Opera, that they were disapointed that LEGISLATION that provided for compulsory City Council funding was not in place this year, but would apply for 2009.
THis is outrageous!!.
It is not very long ago that I also witnessed Ms Clark state on TV., that the Government would pay some $150 Million towards cleaning up the Rotorua lakes... with a rider... that the local city Council would be required to contribute half of it !! Is that the Govt paying $150M ?
Another outrage... and possibly unnoticed by many.
This Govt & councils are out of control. There needs to be legislation to reduce some of the areas of council involvement & concentrate/revert to their CORE BUSSINESS.
Guess which Govt will NOT do that?.
Now, not only do we have all of the above, plus, Wellington Region with all of their rail network to pay for within their Region - courtesy of this Governments legislation approx. 3 years ago permitting Regional Councils to own rail. It never seems to stop!!.
When the Govt., claim to be generating surpluses, closer examination of their offloadings, reveal even greater unfair expense to Ratepayers. |

that is the current mindset of the government that is representing the people of this country, things that not all new zealanders etc agree with, going for change could be the possible solution!
one can live and hope and dream! november the eigth make the two votes count, move ahead or stagnate! good politician and bad politician, an oxymoron!
What is an honest politician?? better visions for the future for all of the country, is everyone going to agree, most likely not!!
the right to choose is never going to make all happy!
Helen Clarke LOL! she is a mystery all on her own, nothing against her gender, some of her decisions have been rather questionable lately, whatever happens, will so may the powers that be..???? :) :) |
