int18wis0: "It got to the point where a lady feared for her life when her real-life particulars were published by a vengeful Kiwi on a forum because she made some negative comments about NZ!"
Hey, you talking about me? ;)
I have to say, my habit of hiding my tracks came in handy in NZ, after I co-founded an expat board called Expat Exposed ("Forewarned is forearmed") and the ensuing TVNZ coverage got me on the public enemy list. Alas, my venture partner wasn't so lucky. Someone with boundary issues looked up and posted his home phone and address--where his two young children then lived. I got lightly stalked in real life as well, though the people in question never did manage to find out where we lived.
I don't think the trolls we continue to get at the board realize that they've got us beat, hands-down, in making New Zealand look bad. |

I have seen Expat Exposed, and have tracked it for a period of time. Unfortunately, while it started off well, it did not stay that way. One of the major complaints was that the NZIS is ruthless and misleading (to use a mild term) in its drive to extract money from foreigners via immigration and tourism, and that forum was set up to counter that pack of lies.
However, it has evolved into a PC "toe-the-line" type of place that does not allow frustrated immigrants to reveal their thoughts in an effort to be "fair". To be fair??? That was not the stated intention of that forum. Quite the opposite. However, when some of the worst trolls in that forum is constantly modded up by the moderators and admins, and the immigrants trying to counter him are constantly modded down by the same groups, then that forum has failed in its stated purpose. There were also rumours of horse-trading going on in the background, exchanging protection on the forum and a lessening of complaining about NZ for favours elsewhere (good referrences, etc.). I do not know the veracity of that rumour, nor do I care. All I know is that it has become little different to the umpteenth other "plug NZ" forums out there (e.g., move2nz, etc.).
I fear that the people involved in Expat Exposed have lived in NZ for too long and have learnt to ape their ways. |

Wintersmith. You seem to pride yourself in letting a Forum such as ExpatExposed see the light. (or did it?). I have no particular loyalties towards New Zealand, nor is it the country of my birth. Nonetheless, ExpatExposed was a rather radical step towards such an infantile country?
Was it vengeance, a score that you needed to settle? NZ p--- you off, therefore...you set up a Forum against a country? It would be interesting to know what your motivations were. A Forum that, judging by the length of the some posts and the posters that frequent there, exploits people with rather a lot of time on their hands? Your Forum caters for posters, who for various reasons, find themselves in limbo and have little else to do but spend time on a Forum supporting your personal vendetta. As far as the "trolls" you mention are concerned, you obviously must be encouraging them in some manner.
What message are you trying to convey? Irrespective of whether or not the posters support your goals, their commonality is that they are people without purpose.
Could one regard a source of information based on above as a valuable reference? |

Without purpose? How did you come about that? That is rather insulting, don't you think? If someone is dissatisfied with NZ, he is obviously someone with no purpose?
I will not deny that the mods and admins there do support the so-called trolls. However, your reply here reeks of the holier-than-thou attitude which is so typical of the average Kiwi: "If you don't like it here, don't complain, go home, (insert racially motivated label here; e.g., g***, n*****, etc.)."
I do have to give you points for creativity of oblique insults, though. |

@Grizzco2004"HERE IS NO PLACE LIKE HOME ,So to ALL of you who complain about how bad it is here PISS OFF and find somewhere that's better YOU WONT"
I was told by an Immigration official that there are more NZ'ers living outside of the country per capita than any other group in the world.
That's got to say something doesn't it? |

| Ftqbdi, yes. By blanket attacking the audience and giving them degoratory labels. Very well done! Now we know the sort of contempt you hold for others who apparently disagree with you. |

| I'm not attacking the audience, I'm criticising the manipulator of the audience. A selfish manipulator who, by pretending to sympathise with it's audience, achieves a goal that requires mass support. You peeved the wrong lady NZ, I'll teach you a lesson you won't forget! The audience applaudes... |

Yes. By calling them easily manipulated, weak-willed, brainless twerps who have no purpose in life and so go around bashing NZ... Yeah. You are so attacking only the lady.
Just admit it. This is just another ploy to get people who do not like NZ to shut up by giving them distasteful labels and shouting it until they are so embarassed by it that they keep quiet. In other words, kindergarden bully tactics, something which the Kiwis are justly famous for. |

You keep missing the point. You’ve digressed and twisted my argument out of context. You are defending a Forum that you, yourself have condemned as biased and having hidden Agendas? Are you the only one entitled to criticise and express your views?
Bully tactics? Do you understand what is meant by being in limbo? A state of mind where a person becomes trapped by circumstances beyond their control. It is an embarrassing situation yes, and leaves itself open to manipulation. Brainless twerps, certainly not.
What exactly is the Agenda of that Forum?
To serve as a support group for unhappy migrants? If so, why are Trolls encouraged?
A negative Marketing Strategy? Any worthy marketing strategy pays for the contributions of it’s team players.
Just a Blog about life in NZ? With a registered Domain Address and a facility for donations?
Expat Exposed cannot exist without regular contributions from dedicated posters who are in a certain frame of mind. It could not exist on traffic just “passing through”. Hi, my name is Margaret, I hate NZ, I’m leaving, Goodbye.
On the one hand, it poses as a support group, attracting those who, for whatever reason, find themselves trapped by circumstances in NZ. It seemingly offers an emotional outlet, an opportunity to express feelings and bond with others in similar circumstances. At the same time, it embraces those who are prejudiced towards NZ in an attempt to discredit the country? Are we seeing a Forum with an identity crisis here, or is the confusion a symptom of an uncertain but ongoing personal vendetta, which gains momentum by the input of vulnerable people? |

I did nothing that you yourself did not say. You were the one who wrote that posters there were purposeless. Everything I said of you were your own words. Don't blame me for them.
I felt that it was insulting to the posters there to be generalised and attacked like this. There are people who are on there just to do a de facto "scream in the middle of a crowded street". It is thereputic. Sadly, the mods and admins do not like that, and yes, I have issues with them and therefore the site in general. However, I have nothing against the immigrant posters themselves, whom I feel needed a place to let loose, even if it is biased.
And therein lies the problem that I have with your above post. You attacked the posters. If you kept it to the mods and admin, I would have no issues with it, but you couldn't resist generalising those with whom you disagreed. Note that I have never once said anything, for or against, your estimation of the mod/admin.
I only had problems with you laying into the general posters with your posts. |

| Irrespective of whether it carries your approval or not, I still maintain that people in limbo are people without purpose, open to manipulation. The Administrators and Posters form an entity, impossible to seperate with regards to criticism. Exploiting that kind of market is no great achievement and whether the end result carries credibility is highly debatable. |

| ftq - who ate a dictionary, we are not worthy, you look really intelligent, but what the hell are you on about, keep it simple, we're not all doctors of philosophy. I used to be prone to using language such as that, but I realised I was only trying to impress and making myself look like a fool, not that you're doing that, that was a dig at me. |

Look pharkers i come in here time and agai to tell you numb skulls that New Zealand will always be a "Barely able to keep it's head above water". country.
We will never have a economical climate in this country that we bake us secure in our futures as a whole.
It will not happen. Nada, Zilch, zero, never.
Poor schools, Poor education, Poor Health, Poor Justice System,High level of Welfare Dependance,Moari Ignorance,Low Business Leadership,
The above mentioned have some many undercurrents under them and this is only to name a few.
If you Live in this county and are above the age of 16 and have't a iota of knowledge as to what i am saying then you should be in a mental institute we under graduated doctors can try to understand how it is you can read.
No one thing in this country is a seperated issue from the next above mentioned issue
THEY ALL COME FROM THE SAME PROBLEM AND WE WILL PROBABLY NEVER FIND THIS SOLUTION THOUGHT I AM SURE WE ALL HAVE NOTION TO ONE DEGREE OR ANOTHER WHAT WE WOULD LIKE TO DO TO FIX IT BUT KNOW THIS
WHERE EVER YOU HAVE UNEQUALISATION YOU HAVE WAR OF SOME DESCRIPTION I.E. HIGH CRIME RATE(for the mentally challenged) SO PLEASE DO NOT INVENT THREADS OF NO CONSEQUENCE ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY TALK OF THINGS WE SHOULD ALREADY KNOW |

Narrow minded complacency is the downfall of any nation. Good thing you're not running for prime minister, as your lack of education would top your C.V.! |

| Clearly this web site is the work of an embittered NZ resident, probably older generation, who can't spell and has too much time on their hands. The threads initiator perhaps. It's this sort of illiterate drivel that highlights the downside of the internet. It's highly likely to be a cheap ploy from someone who doesn't appreciate immigrants coming into the country and feels this may turn some of them away. Read again people. This time with your eyes open. |

I am a 'global' Kiwi and would like to thank you for your comments on our country and in the main generous, warm peoples.
The comments I hear of NZ and the people as I travel are reiterated in your comments.
I haven't come from a wealthy, priviledged background but I have found that you 'attract what you are in life!'. So if you have certain biased, narrow views then you tend to attract the same type of people.
I'm very encouraged to see that you are not one of these.
Thank you from a genuine, proud, globalised Kiwi from a small farming community in the Wairarapa, North Island.
Safe travels and may you return to Aotearoa often, NZ and the world needs more 'good' people like yourselves. |

that's sensible akasha, good morning, can we have a sensible one today??
This is one great country, again, having lived in a few others I have a good basis for comparison, and it's bloody wonderful, my kids go out and play and I don't have to worry about child molestors and murderers, don't think because you see a murder in SA that they're running round everywhere looking for their next victim. It's just not a real perspective.
It's bloody great, I love it, bring on summer, beaches, barbies, freedom. |
