Right. The highly educated, skilled migrants who are lured here under false pretenses and are frustrated by Kiwi racism, bigotry and prejudice are really brainless twits open to all sorts of manipulation...

| Akasha, it might also be somebody who hates NZ and wants to warn people away. As NZ relies on ripping off immigrants to fill their coffers and tourist traps to gut the tourists (and then raping and/or murdering them, of course), he would be doing the world a public service. I would nominate him for a medal for global humanitarian efforts, if there is one available. |

Whereismymarbles, the use of elaborate english in my reply to Wintersmithen regarding her Forum, expatexposed.com, is deliberate.
She manipulates frustrated migrants in NZ to support her personal vendetta against the country.
(someone peeved off Ms High Society badly, how dare you?)
She preys on the fact that the Posters feel vulnerable because their migration to NZ was unsuccessful.
She sets an intellectual precedent, which posters feel compelled to adopt, if they want to participate on the Forum.
The result is that there is a lot of
pseudo-intellectual posturing going on.
(Hey NZ, just look what you're missing)
Nobody wants to look stupid on the site Mate.
Maybe, just maybe your migration to NZ failed because
you made a stupid mistake or you believed all the advertising hype.
What's more, once she's got all the intellectuals going, she adds a few spices to her broth.
(rat's tail, horse ass etc). They are all "high on NZ".
The gladiators move in, sword at the throat of the intellectuals and she shouts
"Off with his head!".
The guillotine falls .....the blood squirts
all over the place.
The queen dusts her hands and sets the table for
the next round of intellectual diners. |

But then hey maybe it's not kiwi's who think it's that bad just this wintersmith person you allude to. I don't think I'll bother with that site/forum if they all have to pretend they're better than someone else by using silly language that isn't the way anyone I know talks.
I wonder if it's just me and everyone else does talk like that, but stops when I enter the cafe/restaurant/bar/shop/ supermarket and then dumbs down their english so I can understand. It's a conspiracy against me, you all know me and think I'm dumb don't you?? Arrrgggghhhh my mind is confused. I thought I'd found my marbles, but there they go again. |

As for the hilarious "rumour", it sounds like something that one person came up with and is trying to push as a popular opinion. After all, what 'protection' can people get on a board that they can't better by just shrugging 'meh' and surfing away? As for getting job references in exchange (!), I love the idea:
Kiwi interviewer: "So you have no Kiwi experience and you're a bloody Pom/Yank/Asian."
Migrant: "Well, I went to [world-recognized educational institute]."
KI: "That's not in New Zealand."
M: "I have 20+ years experience in the field."
KI: "Outside of New Zealand. It's 4PM, I'm cracking a beer and going home."

From 3 bloody Yanks who run that site warning people about New Zealand's substandard job market and housing, as well as criminally deceptive marketing to skilled migrants! They gave me this precious document in exchange for my not chiming in with dozens of others about the First World prices I pay for Third World services!"
To all who sent the charming e-mails, here's me and every single one of the charter members saying 'meh' from distant shores. Contrary to fevered imaginings, we've all left NZ. We still get the posts and letters, from Kiwi fans decrying the fact that they get punished for being "positive" and "balanced" (i.e. ignoring the point of our site and trolling). Also, from a few migrants who wanted ExEx to be their personal rant blog (Blogspot is your friend, guys) and so claim they're the *real* victims here. | I'm a New Zealander and have been living in the UK for 4 years. I am a true patriot and love my home country very much and wish it all the best for the future. Will I ever return to NZ permanently? The answer is I'm not so sure. If there's one thing that I truly don't like about NZ it is the politics, New Zealand is a very left wing country and that is hurting and will continue to hurt NZ. Fifty years ago NZ had the highest standard of living in the world, now we are barely a first world country and sliding fast. The reason is a long succession of neo-marxist liberal governments. Helen Clark is the worst thing that's happened to NZ in recent times and I don't have much confidence that John Key will be any better. Wake up NZ. |

aphume: The reason that the standard of living slipped is that Britain stopped buying all our farming produce at highly inflated prices.
New Zealand in fact dismantled it's social welfare system in he 80's, ahead even of Thatchers Britain.
If you think that socialist policies equal a low standard of living, try popping over to Scandinavia for a weekend. |

| I disagree with Wintersmithen's claim that NZ is guilty of criminally deceptive marketing to skilled migrants. I saw a programme in the UK earlier in this year that featured a firm called move2nz. The couple seemed to be hardworking and honest and presented a well balanced view of the positives and negatives of living in NZ. I think Wintersmithen and the others on this site clearly have personal issues. |

Oh, you've really stepped into it now, Aphume. One of the reasons ExpatExposed was started was because of a disagreement that the ExpatExposed guys had with move2nz. It escalated into a threats of lawsuits.
IMO, the immigrant posters there are genuinely upset with NZ, and they were promised a place where they can vent in peace (ExpatExposed has a section called the Angry Dome where it is advertised that you can do just that, but again, that is deceptive in that people who post in there get attacked for things they said). I find it utterly reprehensible that you will just dismiss their pain just like that, just because they are saying something about NZ that you don't like. Why do you do that? Are they not allowed to have their own feelings and emotions? |
