What makes the behaviour of a large part of the New Zealand population to many other people so unpleasant,or worse, even revolting, is not so much a statistic that clearly showes a higher or lower number undesirables live here comparing NZ with other places in the world,but certainly that persistant,almost to be called ' a neurotic national need ' by this partical large group of people living on these islands,to feel constanly being done wrong,short changed by whoever, the almost inbred hypocracy.the sleezy,slimy of ways in trying to be goody goody two-socks with on the other side the clear statistics on alcohol abuse, violence, cloak and dagger affaires, the need to ' go to war and pull the trigger'.
Many facets of daily life here, rugby, the apparent need for bigger and louder engines in cars, the mindless yahooing,constant use of words as " *** k", "bloody", mother *** ker" and other similar vile expressions,the ongoing need for celebration of nothingness, are for many visitors or emigrants more then valid reasons to conclude that they might aswell go elswere.
The words that have come from the mouth of many people living here stating " I was born here, *** k off to where you come from" when confronted with genuine questions or honest critisism ,rarely fail to reach a target.
These characters are best served with a wee reminder that possums,rats,stoats and other introduced vermin should deserve the same considerations.
The unwillingness - AFTER MORE THEN 95 YEARS- to acknowledge the fact that the whole Gallipoli campagne was nothing more then a blatant and unforgivable act of aggression in order to satisfy the motherland in it's need for further extensions to the Empire is and will be for many a good reason to revise their initial first thoughts and observations after arriving here.
These are only a few reasons for ponderings on the subject -is NZ really THAT good?- and what tourist and emigrants REALLY talk about WHEN THEY ARE BACK in their homeland. |

| and if the best example he could come up with for badly spent taxes was some metal poles in the ground, look at america. 1 year after katrina new orleans still looked like a war zone because the richest country in the world was too busy inventing enimies in the east,and then spending billions of tax dollers on bombs, troops, and what not so they could go and attack their artificial enemy. look how that one turned out. id say the democracy in irak is going swimmingly and america has brought much peace. yea right mate |

Well well a NZer in Austria, you will fit right in there with your socialist/communist ethos. Tell me, do you still have to sign in each month with the Police as a forgiener living there. Where do you reside, Linz (Hitlers Home Town) but NZ is so good you have decided to live in Austria, the Tyrol is very nice but its a real bummer that businesses close for 2 hours in the afternoon so they can have a sleep. How many Maori\Black people do you come in to contact with in Austria, when I lived in Innsbruck I never saw any!! It was an event if you spoted one in Austria, everyone knows that Austrians are Xenophobic, hence Adolf.So it is really easy for you to preach when you are not living there. Everybody climbs Everst today, it has become a tourist destination for anyone who wants to do it. Are you suggesting that pride is a collective object, that if one man achievements can be spread accross a nation... if my father was Einstein does that make me smart too. The collective mind is so distorted and can never be trusted. Austria was once the center of Europe (Hapsburg Empire) all you have done my friend is exchanged one declining nation for another. |

Is NZ really that bad .
Who writes that tripe .Having been all over the world I see kiwis as great open people in a great country .If it s so bad ,why all the Asians?We let these people in and expect them to live like us .We for get were they come from and how they live .Human life is low on the scale of importance to them .Our way of life is great ,We work 40 hours ,Most immigrants have come from working 18 hours a day or more for very little .Letting these people in to NZ is like letting lions move in with sheep .Who needs or wants them here ?Look at Fiji and the Indians who they let in ,Who owns the country now .We will be the same in fifty years time over run by these people who have different values .I'm not down on any body ,as you may be thinking ,Just the facts are there ,good or bad just open your eyes . |

| nope just at the moment i dont send any money back to nz thats true. but im on something called on oe so no i havent decided to come and live in austria perminantly i plan on returning early next year. actualy im living in graz and no i dont sign with th cops every month but im registerd here. what has shops being closed for lunch got to do with anything. so what they like a break. yip tyrol is wickid and i think innsbruck is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. and ye sure austrias never been 2 keen on forieners but its come along way since the 40s you wouldnt have found open borders back then. no im not suggesting if ur dad was einstein ur smart but its something to be proud of. people drive cars everyday but when the first internal combustion engine was invented it was a breakthrough |

| OE aye, so you have visited a place for 5 minutes and you are an authoriy on the place; dude I have seen the statues as well and the staff whom make you feel special, thats their job and you had a good time...!!! Get on the street, visit their homes, get drunk with them, find out what they are about.... we have all visited "St Maria Strasse" I even have the pictures. Good luck to you. |

| so hold on i thought this was a conversation about NZ. never said i was authority or that austria was perfect either, there are sum prtty f@*ked up things about it but i like it because everybody ive met here has been friendly. sounds to me like you havent got any friends tho and didnt make any in innsbruck. ive got heaps of m8s over here, i get drunk with them at least twice a week an i lived with an austrian family for 7 months. im prtty sure ive been here for more than 5 mins |

NZ'ers loathe any form of criticism ive found generally.
I think it comes from a lack of national identity, being so far away from the rest of the world and most being totally unaware and uneducated on world events because the national news here hardly covers anything of importance outside of NZ.
The news here in comparison to other western countries is banal, and the population fed like mushrooms on bull.... meaningless drivel and petty local issues which more often than not are totally not news worthy.
Ive done very well here, but what i have noticed since i came here twenty odd years ago is the change in lifestyle for so many new zealanders.
EG, when i firt came here a lot of everage earning kiwis used to do things like ski, but the costs have in large restricted it to those with cash so many kiwis are trapped in surburban dreariness with no extra income because the wages are so low. You can hardly blame them for scooting across to OZ in their droves and money in their pockets.
In all, if i had to live on a low income here i would rather live almost anywhere else because NZ would be one of the most boring countries on the planet.
Thankfully, i dont have to do that, so enjoy the place. |
