| I have just recently got back from my OE in the UK and Europe, and while i wouldn't swap NZ for anywhere else the one thing that annoys me is the inability to take criticism! People are entitled to their own opinions and have a right to express them freely but don't force your opinions down someone elses throat. If someone prefers another country and has found happiness there good luck to them I say. However to all those who think crime in NZ is out of hand i say look at the murders, the violence and despair caused by alcohol and drug abuse, the verbal abuse and so on that is present in Europe, the UK etc. Just because it is not in a newspaper etc doesn't mena it is not happening there. It happens EVERYWHERE! I think it is only the fact that NZ is so small that every bit of violence is well publicised that it seems like the country is getting out of hand. And as for politicians, they are the same the world over and the only way to get rid of them is to vote them out, you know exercise the right you have to vote without fear and intimidation. It is a democracy after all. And no I am not wealthy, it fact i am one of the new poor!(white, single and low wage) |

I point out to all that England let him in just as easy as muk himself and what does that tell you about border security in the UK. There are no restrictions on letting the garbage of society in is there muk. He also condones the shooting and killing of an overstayer, no comment those truckloads of refugees trying to get into the country; dead or alive. Typical bloody minded arrogance from someone who is probably hiding from immigration because his work permit ran out. And that's it from this proud Kiwi. |

Doesn't this genius have spellcheck on his computer. Aparthied???? And many, many other mistakes.
And English is not even my first language!!!!
I'm from The Netherlands and have been living in NZ for 6 years. Trust me, NZ is sweet as.

Every person in this world who chooses to live in a country has infact made a CHOICE. That means that the decision to live in that place was their own (going with the idea that if you are old enough to vote, you are old enough to make this choice). What strikes my attention as being interesting is that people who either live in NZ or have lived in NZ have something to say about it. However, if you live here and have something negative to say about it, either try to help to make a change to your surroundings or simply change where you live altogether. I realise sometimes this isn't always an option for individuals or families, but don't just complain about your situation ,try to change it. The fact is, noone is going to help you make that change but yourself.
If you are complaining about NZ from another country, why bother? You have already proved by moving, that NZ wasn't the place for you.
My point is, that if each person in this world just sits back and is unhappy about where they live, this whole world would be an unhappy place. That's why people travel and explore new places. I erge those of you who do not see NZ as a perfect place, to reside somewhere else and leave this country to those who do enjoy it. |

Proud that so many NZers are leaving for OZ or maybe just proud of the All Blacks which had their *** s kicked last world cup..... there were grown NZ men in the UK crying like big girl blouses. Or maybe you were proud of the All Black, not able to hold his drink because the larger is a lot stonger in the UK and went and damaged 3 or 4 cars, I cant say that I was surprised though. If the Brazilian guy had not over stayed then he would have been here and he wouldnt have got shot so he has to take responsibility for that. I would like to see the visa application of Tama Iti I am sure he has omitted the charges he was on but we all know that story. So tell xtr365705@xtra.co.nz what have you got to be proud about then.... what have "You" achieved? I mean anybody can be a New Zealander, it happens by chance when you are born with in a geographical area.... Is this what you are proud of. Explain your reasoning, I would be interested to know. |

I am a kiwi who has moved to Sweden (where my partner is from).
This is such a debate. But of course every country has its ups and downs, although I would agree with some, in that NZ has gone down hill in recent years.
I think that maybe our government is modeling some of its policies or ideas from the wrong nations. As someone on here said before, I too hope NZ stays kept 'a secret' in some ways.
Sweden is an amazing country, and NZ would find some very intelligent political ideas in the Nordic regions, where I feel lucky to have discovered such a peaceful place to live.
A lot of people would really shy against this statement, but I believe with a smart enough government, higher taxes would benefit everyone. But if the government keeps running as it is now in nz I really feel I could never live there again (house prices vs income, making life a struggle etc).
I hope this doesn't wind anyone up too much. I wish NZ could get smart and look for inspiration in other nations apart from Australia and America. |

Proud and loud of all the acheivements NZers have done around the world, i bet you all these expats out there proclaim NZ as home with pride, i do, every country has internal issues, some of you seem thats our lot for NZ, what a kro.ck ...... as for Aussie invading, yea right, Aussie has enuff in it's own economy to deal with than to take on NZ, Aussie's shud be worried about the Asian companies buying their mines, timber, etc..... before invading the neighbours. |

Anyway, all criticisms aside the site has a valid argumentative point to all citizens of New Zealand.You turn the news on and how many negatives are you veiwing? Read sites from home and how many negatives do you get?Compare www.msn.co.nz and www.msn.com <<< look at the manner of presentation and English Language...which do you favour?
New Zealand people are well mannered outside of home. We are proud to represent New Zealand out here. People speak of are green awareness, clean food and better education. We are appreciated out here.
Patriotism and Pride is lacking in New Zealand you only have to look at Putin and see him enforce this two great attributes within his nation since his term in office. I have seen people from these parts of the world get out with their 'witches' broom to sweep the pavement or clean up without been told.
Yes, we do need a strong hand at the top to master the lot below us. It is time for 'change' in the way we continously view ourselves in the media. Do we bury the negatives?? Yes, we can put it on page 9 of any websites for those who crave on the negatives. Come on New Zealand, there are a lot of positive things around us that need reflecting on...
Geezzzzzz...That website is proactive and has a point... Now, you have to do something because you 'LOVE' your country. |

It's ridiculous to say that women in NZ are only successful because all of the males are overseas!!
This assumes firstly that men make up the majority of NZ travellers / workers abroad?? I have met just as many NZ women working overseas as men.
Secondly, why don't you take a look at some education statistics:females are achieving higher at high school than males and consequentially University rollsare filled with more women than men in many subjects. Now that a women's main focus is not necessarily bringing up children and educationis more accessible for everyone (unlike other Western countries) obviously women have more time and opportunities to increase their job prospects and advance their careers.
It's good to see that you've distinguished yourself from the dross of males that remain in NZ, I hope you're happy paying less tax somewhere else, probably in a country where the pay disparity between males and females is greater than in NZ.
I understand your other concerns about the immigration package that the NZ govt is trying to spin - but at least you could acknowledge the hard work women in NZ have had to do to get their success! Instead you sound like a typical kiwi: "Oh yeah, NZ Women only won because there was no competition"
Also, if you assume that were there more kiwi men living back home NZ women would not be so successful - then presumably you're saying that males are naturally more able than females? I think you'll find some interesting literature on this, all from the 19th Century!! |
