jerry; you have a real fetish about New Zealand don't you ? Why don't you go get a shovel and trundle off to the Channel Islands and help with this latest total outrage;yet another outrage that all too often happens in the UK. Talk about an idiot running around in circles and threatening to fly up your own ass .

If you can get past the fact that some Employers don't want smart people working for them and not have initiative then NZ might not be such a bad place

Leahjayne, you gloss over some very relevant points to your comical assertion that women hold their own against men. Yes Uni stats do show more women achieving than men in several areas. This is due to the feminist enforced admission criteria in many field that were once top heavy with male success.A female friendly criteria now exists which gives preference to women seeking positions in subjects such as engineering ,sports medicine and several other formerly more male orientated pursuits.
# guys were on T.V recently choking about not being accepted for these courses when their entry exam marks were much better than females who were accepted! Unis, like govt and Media have been hi jacked by the feminist lobby which provides blatant, one sided assistance to the progress of women at the expense of male progress. That is why people such as yourself are able to trumpet these distorted figures.
Dont get me started on the many other areas that feminism has so far been unable to manipulate, where the male still reigns supreme, speed, strength, stamina, sport, driving e.t.c.

Re:Is New Zealand Really This Bad Reply to this message
jerry springer room - note in my comment 'but I believe with a smart enough government, higher taxes would benefit everyone.'
You can't have one without the other, so no, raising taxes now would not be the best idea. But as I said in my comment, with a smart enough government, it can actually make life easier.
Some of the happiest nations have the highest taxes.
But just saying those words 'higher taxes' can really scare most people that don't have an experience with this kind of system. Not long ago, I was one of them.

Re:Is New Zealand Really This Bad Reply to this message
JSR's got some things right. NZ's society's turning feral. Piss poor parenting (everybody else's kids are drunken thugs but the cops shouldn't've arrested mine for a little bit of hi-jinks that got out of hand - it was only a minor assault), too many dumb teenage baby factories breeding social misfits and getting paid to keep having more when there's thousands of good parents wanting to adopt and no kids available, Courts giving crims an easy ride and victims nothing. Police, Corrections, apologising every few months for stuff ups that caused the needless death of some innocent. Gangs running neighbourhoods and the prisons. It's ok to be patriotic, but we gotta fix this stuff fast. God knows how though, with our useless political and justice systems. They, and our apathy, are the main cause of it.

Re:Is New Zealand Really This Bad Reply to this message
I really hope this website is a bit of a piss-take, but then maybe I don't. If people are narrow minded enough to look to websites like these without visiting the country, or don't like NZ after visiting it, then they shouldn't migrate to NZ, it's as simple as that.

I guess I'm part of the brain drain, having spent 3 years working in NZ after obtaining my degree I've based myself loosly in the UK where I'm able to earn good money & travel up to 6 months a year, but when it comes time to choose where to call home, there's no question, I'll be back to New Zealand & so will the majority of my classmates who are currently doing the same as I.

I've now travelled to 23 countries around the globe, and plan to double that figure before I come home, but I challenge anyone to find a country that doesn't have high crime areas, where there is no racial tension, where people aren't patriotic and will defend their country against criticism and where everyone agrees with all the government policies and is happy with the taxes they pay. Find me a country where everything appears perfect and I can guarantee I'll still find people who live or have lived there that aren't happy - it's unfortunate, but you can't please all the people all the time.

I've only been out of the country a year, I grew up & worked in high crime, low socioeconomic areas, am older than the stated 25yrs, earned good money while I was there & consequently paid high taxes, but NZ is home for me & always will be. It's the people that make the place, but as an added bonus our scenery is also spectacular.

Hi Jerry,

I am of Maori descent and I am proud to be a kiwi, have you moved to oz? So with your opinion of NZ who obviously class yourself as an australian. Well guess what Jerry Im not 1 of those girls who are on DPB I have travelled the world before I had my child at the age of 27, I represent my district in golf, I also work and have been working since I was 18 when my daughter was 3 months old I was back at work Im still with her dad after 16 years and I own my own house 2, so your views are so far fetched.

Re:Is New Zealand Really This Bad Reply to this message
I'm a kiwi, and proud. Have lived overseas for some time for the usual reasons, more money, benefits, lifestyle and a safe environment. I miss the fact that my kids can't hoot about under the sprinkler with the dog, eat veg from the garden and in in every way be kids of the country that grew them. But this choice has given them a secure life, a decent education, instant and fantastic medical care and in every way we can we replicate the life they would have had, had they grown up as true kiwi kids. How sad is that? Lets head else where, to give our children what should be their right.

Re:Is New Zealand Really This Bad Reply to this message
Hi again,

I am proud to be a kiwi, but I do have issues and the 1 that really bugs me is the DPB there are the genuine solo mothers but most of them are living with partners, a mother of 3 gets $520 a week its like oh my god thats more then the average income and with their partners income on top its like depressing, some solo mums do not put fathers names on the birth certificates simply because its money out of their own pockets, my views are if you cant name the father of your child on the birth certificate u shouldnt be entitled to it unless u have a good excuse. Dont bite my head off readers its just an honest opinion.

Re:Is New Zealand Really This Bad Reply to this message
Bill Ralston siad this; While the Government is refusing to comment on the Veitch affair it is reported that the Prime Minister is appalled.

I have no doubt that soon after Helen Clark read the original Dominion Post report she had an urgent word with Broadcasting Minister Trevor Mallard.

I am convinced Mallard would have then spoken to TVNZ Board chairman Sir John Anderson who, in turn, would have talked to Rick Ellis, TVNZ's CEO. Ellis would have issued instructions to his Head of Television Jeff Latch who would have then contacted Anthony Flannery, Head of News and Current Affairs.

After a long talk with the Head of TVNZ's Human Resources, Flannery would eventually have spoken to Veitch.

The message rumbling down the food chain would have been the same at every level but probably picking up in volume and intensity by the time it reached Flannery with the impact of a large rock falling on his head.

"If the allegations are true, Veitch must go but, for God's sake, there cannot be a payout."

This means that TVNZ is just the mouth piece for the "STATE" with its purpose to influence the populas.
