| I am an Aussie living in kiwi land. I have now lived here on and off for around 20 years and love the fact that i can drive to work in 20 minutes, go for a run up with my dog and not worry about snakes. I am not fond of spiders so dont miss the huntsman. Also we have most everything here that we have in Aus. However things have started to change, and violent random crime is more apparent, and cost of living is higher than pay increases, so am thinking of going home. I will miss living here, but certainly not the way the government here need to tell me what to do like I am a child, and I am sick of the moari people moaning all the time. (not all of course) They got given heaps of money, and I would love to see it used to help their own. (Moari health and education funds)Other than that I will miss the laid back life style. Although it will be nice to eat cheese again........ |

OMG! I have just read this entire thread from start to finish, and I can't stop laughing. Also read the website you are on about, and I actually thought it was quite a crack up, along with the charming photos the person used to illustrate our obviously pathetic, retarded, redneck country.
Clearly this guy either had a bad trip here or some nz girl told him he has a small d@#k, and he thought he would get his own back.

| I am leaving also. After leaving 14 years ago I thought I would give a go back here in NZ. Been back 18 months and have had enough. The government is a joke, the tax rates are obscene and the pay rates are third world. Don't get me satrted on the weather.... |

A lot of people complain about how much greener the grass is on the other side. But once they move to another paddock they realise there is a price to pay for everything. The media reports that Kiwis go to Oz in droves (as I did many moons ago) but life over there, while warmer, is not as free and easy as they say, there are certain consessions you make.It is never reported how many come back, and for what reasons.I lived there for 8 odd years and heard all sorts of excuses. I also heard how much a lot of them hated it there.( I usually told those ones to go home then) |

| ctawharu, I know what you mean, A while back (Almost 12years) I decided I needed a break from NZ , So i leased my truck to a company and went to Aussie, And drove Road trains for a while , Great money lousy life style (5 days on the road)Then I heard that Kiwi Drivers were getting good money in the US,So off we (wife and dog)went to California. the Dog got sent back to Parent in NZ , Great Money , You can earn upwards of $60-70grand a year, BUT you live in your truck ,You Eat,Shower and relax at Truck stops ,Home life?? what's that .After another year of that We returned to NZ ,A little Richer ,BUT Secure in the knowledge THERE IS NO PLACE LIKE HOME ,So to ALL of you who complain about how bad it is here PISS OFF and find somewhere that's better YOU WONT |

Are you posting this from Overseas I presume...I sense a yearning to return but......If you are happy where you are then whats your problem...Sound bitter towards the government... Not going to get fixed up if you are critizing from the otherside of the world.. and you wont necessarily get what you want..If you want change you have to make the change however which way. | justgolfit, Awhile back you asked me to explain my post RE one Jerry Springer .After sifting through the threads ( Before the Post in question )I noticed that like his namesake (US TV talk show host) he is a wind up merchant, Who has little of any thing good to say about NZ I'm proud of this little Country and if some loud mouthed expat Kiwi is going to Complain instead of being constructive He like Every other malcontent will receive the same attention from me Every Bodies Moaning about the bad But very few talk about the wonderful place we live in! | I have lived in NZ all my life and think that although we could be better we are definately up there with the best. I have been to Aus, Europe, Canada and Indonesia. I loved Canada but they don't know what a Flat White coffee is and the cheese is terrible. In Britian its much harder to get a good coffee so we are definately better in that department and their trains are as bad as ours and London is not a place I would want to live in. Too polluted and I found people not as friendly especially in Brixton. I'm sorry to the people of Indonesia but canals used as open sewers and the pollution really doesn't do it for me, the people are really nice though. NZ is a great place to live. Ok we aren't payed as well as Aus but I don't care, we at least have a decent amount of water and we don't have to worry about whether to recycle sewage water or not. The person who set that website up needs to live here for a while before he/she rubbishs the place. To the others who say they moved out years ago should come back and check it out again you may change your mind if not just get over yourselves and good ridence. |

I have not seen the website, yet from my own experiences, yes it is in many ways not great. glad to see someone got it right.
i am born local yet in a different discipline, i came into this society, if u call it that when i was 16 years of age. Was able to go to another country for a few weeks, coming back to Nz was far from easy. going away then coming back, makes living here much tougher, sorry to say
too quiet and too slow! |

| Gosh look how many kiwis get downright abusive when someone expresses dissatisfaction with NZ. I am a kiwi living abroad & was laughing my head off with my Brazilian partner at the sight. The guys honest & I too have encountered hostility for expressing my views about how controlling NZ has become. Check out this video on You Tube made by some teenagers to address the ever increasing violence & suicide problems. Search under sean soul whole teen. NZ has become a dangerous, controlling place where fighting is the everyday norm. People dont want to know or dont care & the police are downright thugs in some instances. |
