| After reading through this thread I'm convinced there are two New Zealands! The big city seemy underside and the rest of the country. Most NZer's visiting Auckland feel like they have hit a foreign country these days. Great to get back south of the Bombays into the gentle sanity of cow country! |

| Thanks for the site address, I understand about why you came down hard on these people who put down NZ, but I must admit I no longer feel likes its home. My husband hasnt seen his child in 12mths due to a system that rewards lies & deceit. His ex who is from Brazil is receiving $500 a wk on the DPB, works as a prostitute & has been granted a substantial amount of legal aid. We are helpless against her allegations unless we are prepared to spend thousands of dollars. When we went to court the staff at the court(all women) yelled at me when I said she was a prostitute charging $220 per hr, ripping off the system. How dare you victimise her I was told, prostitution is legal!!! We feel like sane people gone mad & we left because we felt so impotent. She has never paid a cent of tax in her 10yrs in NZ. Extremely frustrating!! |

I resent your statment "the quality males have left and what remains is the dross". My husband lives the dream. He has 25 employees who are fantastic 'quality' workers - all male, all educated. And your statement about women in NZ is dumb. Our women have always been strong-minded and hard-working -thats why NZ was the first country to allow women to vote. With regards to the website given, I have to agree with it 100%. You don't have to go to NZ to witness the veracity of the guy's claims. Just look at the replies he got on his website, and the sheer amount of vitriol spewed here by Kiwis defending their nation. Seriously, if he is right in that, the chances are very high that he is right about everything else.
You know, nowhere else have I ever seen Orientals being described as "someone whom you can blindfold with a shoelace" except in NZ. And the term "Pakeha", which the Kiwis use with such pride, is actually a perjorative term, like the N-word, or in the case of old SAfrica, "Blacks". That illustrates their mentality towards race, cultural diversity and social integration far more than anything else. |

Having lived in most parts of the world (Canada,USA,SA, NZ and OZ...we recently decided to return to NZ to retire. So far (after the last 20 years in OZ!) we are very happy with our decision. I agree that not all is perfect..far from it...but find me a place in the world these days that is ! Problems are everywhere, probably due in most part to the increasing global population!
If you think there's vitriol on this forum..TRY criticising the USA on line ! You'll probably get shot!
And yes the cities have gotten worse...but the rest of the country remains pretty good! |

Oh puh-leez.
The Scandinavians (particularly the Swedes) have been criticising the US for at least a decade in online forums. I have been active in several political forums, and have yet to see even one threat of a shooting from an American to anyone else. In fact, the only death threats I have seen are from Muslims when their religion has been bashed, or Kiwis where NZ is concerned. It got to the point where a lady feared for her life when her real-life particulars were published by a vengeful Kiwi on a forum because she made some negative comments about NZ!
However, it was a good attempt at trying to shift the blame by pointing at someone else. Good attempt. |

Yep New Zealand is becoming a joke if it isnt already!!!
1st.. The govenment is run by Gays, Lezbains, Drugee's.
2end The native populaion seem to be always in the govenment's pocket's asking for handouts and land clame's then if nothing hapends thay have radikals do a sitdown on some poor farmers land for months on end. Then there are the Wigers! (Whight Nigers)they are a nother story or together!
3rd.. Gangs are getting into assanations and are Payed for it....although thats always hard to prove.
There is an incresing amount of white coller crime around,... Lawers, Real Estate agents, etc.
This is only a small amount of heeps of other things i could add on here.
But not is lost! The only thing good about NZ is the wilderness. (Outdoors) The Clean green image... but that is going to ..so give it time. |

Correct me if i'm wrong, but aren't these problems all countries have? Not just NZ.
At least we have the landscape too. Our government, however we may critisize haven't yet sold all native land for development of shopping malls/parking buildings/rest homes.. |

| You do realise that NZ's clean, green image is only because of the low population density, right? On a per capita basis, NZ has a higher ecofootprint than the UK. It is still behind the New Yorkers, of course, but it is hardly green. |

NZ has changed radically & I will wholeheartedly agree that people get quite murderous & nasty when challenging their screwed up perceptions of how life is here. Its fine if you agree & go along with things the way they are, but if you complain then you either deserved it, should shut up like a good little girl/boy or are viciously abused. Discussion is good, abuse of this nature is twisted.......
The website is not a piss take, this guy is a kiwi who is just saying it how it is....
I am not saying other countries are without their problems, corruption, etc. I prefer 3rd world & developing countries because there arent so many rules. I really dont need anyone telling me what to do. I have respect & compassion for all human beings. What else is there? If I want to make some money selling some food at Piha or anywhere else, I should be able to. NZ is a packaged place, too many rules & not enough freedom. Just my opinion. Not trying to offend here as this has just been my experience over the last 5yrs.. |

Saw your post and just wanted to say that not all americans are, well, that stupid. While american, my wife and I grew up in Europe and though now living in the US we are leaving for NZ after she finishes University.
I do criticise the US, more so the stupidity of americans in their lack of understanding the world, economics, history, and ecology -- while the responses are often "well look at so and so" (the he/she jumped off the bridge first excuse), "love it or leave it", or the "who/what?". But never fear, not all of us are that bad and there is still hope. |

Some country in Africa where they live under the 2.1 average some boffin has calculated. NZ is sitting on about 8, if I recall correctly.
Look it up in NZ's Department of the Environment. Quite a damning study. |

| I have read it & wasnt surprised, but there are so many places that promote an image contrary to the reality. I am living in a town that is promoted as an eco-tourism destination & it couldnt be further from the truth. It has 15,000 people with 3000 employees who the council pay to sweep the streets. Effectively they are sweeping about the poo dust thats dried up from the previous days poo fest. Dogs roam the streets & just drop a turd anywhere. It dries in the days sun & its swept about. I said to my 8yr old when she wasnt keen on a scrub 'you do realise your covered in poo dust dont you?' She promptly showered. The tourism website makes the place out to be this postcard perfect little paradise, its a *** hole, literally.. |

| Yes, but they acknowledge, at least to themselves, that they have a problem. Kiwis, on the other hand, take those misleading slogans as the Word of God, and they get abusive whenever someone tries to correct them. Therein lies the problem with NZ. |
