Re:tax payers fund benefits Reply to this message
I have read the past few opinions on this site and wondered if any of you are parents. My son has been working at McD's since he was 15. We agreed to him working there because we wanted him to learn that money is not available as a hand out freely and you have to work for it. McD;s have taught him structure, to work as a team and the pay he makes we have taught him how to budget. He turns 17 soon and has applied to train as a chef in the Army. He now knows how to get up in the morning for a job he knows how to make sure he has money for his car, he knows how to socialise with others in a working enviroment and best of all he now knows that sitting on your ass waiting for a handout for the rest of your life wont make you the richest or brightest crayon in the pack.
Dont put down these places they do actually help our young future generation stop the constant lines of handouts we seem to have at WINZ sometimes you know

Anyone that works 60 plus hours and can't afford internet has bugeting issues. Also if everyone worked 40 hours there would be work for everyone. I get sick of smart a.rses bragging about their long hours of work like they are saints of some sort.

Re:tax payers fund benefits Reply to this message
tokoroajac that's a bit harsh...they didn't say they couldn't afford it (but what if that's so) ever think they may have higher priorities than having broadband at home...

and I applaud them for working not bludging like the dropkicks this thread is really aimed at...there's situations which require more than 40 hours - ever stop to think that this person is self employed? That the costs of hiring that extra 1/2 person could seem them out of a business and on the DOLE....COME ON!

Ever thought that the person who does 60hour a week might have a thing called a Mortgage? You know where you borrow money from a financial institution and then are obliged to pay interest each month for a period of time?

Re:tax payers fund benefits Reply to this message
Hey Nomaz, I had a mortgage worked hard on a 40 hour week and paid it off totally.

My point is work as many hours as you want but don't then bag at those that don't work and moan and groan that you are supporting them when in fact jobs are being taken from others when some work such long hours. 60-80 hours equates to two jobs. Work those hours if you want or have two people working those hours and 1 less on the dole.

People want it all ways. They want all the work and want to moan that others dont work etc... Bunch of bloody wingers!

Re:tax payers fund benefits Reply to this message
Paying taxes is part and parcel of working life, I for one dont begrudge paying tax having been on a benifit myself at one stage in life, people have different situations, labelling all benificeries as bludgers is a bit harsh, I think for the most part their situations are genuine.

Re:tax payers fund benefits Reply to this message
And for those of you that are self employed and don't want the expense of employing another worker, fair enough! BUT don't come on here moaning about the un-employed.

I realise this isn't a cut and dry argument but some people just moan about everything and can't be pleased. If you are working two jobs or extra long hours and ALSO winging about the unemployed then give someone one of your jobs!!! Now theres a thought. Oh but I want my two cars and big mortgage you say?? So keep it, but also keep your mouths shut about the unemployed.

Re:tax payers fund benefits Reply to this message
Colvenz - I agree with you. As I said in one of my earlier posts, I have worked hard and paid off my home and now I am ill and on invalids - looking forward to the days I can return to work again.

When I was working I didn't begrudge those that needed winz support and I didn't work two jobs etc... I worked and spent within my means. People get very judgemental and some of these people are at work using the internet wasting their employers money when they are being paid to do a job! We are all guilty of something. Easy to judge everyone else but none of us are perfect yet and each of us can have a sudden change in circumstances.

Hey Tokoroajac, try not to take it personally. People on here may try and label you, and they will, so long as you let them. Stand tall, mean what you say, and then who care's what they come back with.

Re:tax payers fund benefits Reply to this message
thanks noblok. It just that it gets a bit tedious when the workers complain from all angles. Don't want to pay tax to help with winz and also don't want to give jobs to the unemployed. Then they call them lazy etc... Its an old worn out argument and its hard to believe people are still so shallow in their thinking.

mandi what was your point? did you have one? or did you think it clever to use Kristen Dunne-Powell's recent injury as a toy in your meaningless little post? I'm unsure what your last comment meant (in caps)...if you meant to quote the bible...then I think you may want to read it again....
