seedykiwi - I like the way you can differentiate between those who don't have a choice and need support, and those who dont care if they bludge! I'm on an invalids benefit but DON'T WANT TO BE, I was entitled to it for a number of years, but didn't want to accept that I had a medical condition that would stop me from taking care of myself and family, didn't want the stigma or having to answer, what do you do for a job with, `I don't work' - in the end I had no choice. I haven't driven for 7 years and am in my mid 30's, but I'm not giving up and have recovered to the point where I'll be back on my feet during the year

Hey if you go back to the first entry this is actually aimed at the people abusing WINZ, I realise there is a need for them and I dont think anyone would disagree.

What most of us get fed up with is paying for the overdue phone bill that they purchaesed a mobile phone on, the power bill that they spent the money on the pokies instead of the bill etc etc.

It is not aimed at the people who have had unfortunate
circumstances, I certainley do not mean you if you are one of those people.

If... people who are capable of work don't bother because they think fat-cat kiwis should pay for them to live without working, (not realising that fat-cats don't pay tax anyway cause they're avoiders/evaders,and it's your average hard-working petrol-poor Tom who's actually supporting them) And.. People who genuinely can't work feel ashamed?(Why!?!)Then... isn't it time for a little public re-education? Maybe we need a Ministry for Positive Propoganda?;)

Re:tax payers fund benefits Reply to this message
Simply solution: Reintroduce the Work for the Dole scheme so that the lazy people who have no reason to be unemployed are doing something useful for society rather than just bluding off it.

I'm sure that those on the benefit genuinly will have no problems with working for their money. Those who are on it cos they can't be bothered getting a job are the ones who will have the problems.

Even better, the tax payer SAVES money because its cheap labour for community work that needs to be done.

Can't you just hear the PC brigade bleeting already??? It's demeaning to send the unemployed out to clean graffiti off walls, picking rubbish up off streets...then the call will go out for them to be paid the standard $12 per hour min - I suppose that's fair IF working - mate could even hire a few to drive around each day picking the one's up that can't/don't drive...as for those that "don't do mornings" how bout we hire a few to hold the torches so they can work the hours that suit....

Powley:

If it failed before then they didn't do it right. Unless you are genuinly unable to work (eg. Invalids) then you have no right to take my money so you can watch TV all day.

Re:tax payers fund benefits Reply to this message
Pagan you insulted many people today with your generalisations. Time you got out there and did some REAL research on the lives of the people that are on benefits. Its not quiet as glamerous for them as you describe.

Pagan don't believe everything you read and then elaborate on it with fiction. You really need to get back to your dozens of kids and leave society alone!

Re:tax payers fund benefits Reply to this message
well then learn the social grace of society by loving your fellow man and not judging those in difference circumstances to yourself. The fact is that its the minority that rip systems off not the majority.

Re:tax payers fund benefits Reply to this message
bla bla bla... give it a rest now. We know your thoughts and its just too bad that you have so much to gripe about in your personal life. I know people that can hardly put butter on their bread thay moan less than you and they give away what little they have to even less fortunate people. Stop comparing yourself with others and stop being the victim and enjoy what you have.
